"Rain is falling down on the sidewalk; I won't go until you come outside."
“Well, now you have,” She assured him with a nod and poked his cheek lightly. “You smile….which makes me smile…and I get all happy…” She shot him a secret smile and went on. “And then well, my day is just so much perfect cause it’s you.” Oh, jeez, she was so corny, but it was true. She rolled her eyes at herself in that playful manner and laughed ever so lightly before letting out a sigh of content. “No, but seriously. I really do love your smile. I wish my smile was….crooked.” He hated his crooked smile, she knew. That’s why she teased him about it. Only, she wasn’t making fun of it, she really did love it. Boy, what she would give to see Evan smile like that all the time. Sometimes he had this most awful look on his face, like he was really hurting and she was often to afraid to ask. The most she knew was it had to do with his family and just seeing that look on her face--it killed her inside. She made a note to talk to him about it one day. She knew firsthand that bottling things up was not the way to go. She didn’t want him to end up like her.
“Alive…and breathing…try right here,” She tapped her lips and giggled. She’d been doing a lot of giggling since she met him. It used to be that even her own laughter sounded strange in her ears because she did it so little. The first time Evan ever made a joke to her as we recall went something like ‘Joke-Evan’s laughs-Xio stares like WTF.’ Unlike to other people, it wasn’t something natural to her but well, this is Evan she was with. It gradually became something she got used to. Was there ever a day when he didn’t come up with some silly joke? Maybe not a day but there was certainly no joke as she reflexively tightened her arms around him and matched his kiss in desire, her heart beating a mile a minute. She pouted like a child--as expected the second he pulled away. “Get back here, I wasn’t finished,” She told him, pulling him back, her words breathless and excited. In the back of her mind she couldn’t help but frown at his words. She wasn’t into the idea of him being unhappy or even hurt in a anyway for her. Stop breathing for her? She would kill herself in the day ever came.
Her head tilted to one side and she hummed back, trying not to break character. “Possibly, possibly…” She pressed her lips together and pretended to ponder his question and nodded. “You know, I think its working,” She told him. “It might help if you kissed me some more…like, a lot.” She puckered her lips for an over dramatic kiss and stuck her face out toward him then batted her eye lashes. “Noo, eat it.” she waved the strawberry to him. “You have to make sure they’re not poisonous before I eat them, duh.” She smiled sweetly at him. For a whole moment she forgot the fruit and concentrated on not passing out just from tasting him. She didn’t even bother to answer his question, she was too busy repeating the action and this time letting her tongue linger for his to meet it.
“Oho,” She laughed before putting on a sad face and sighing. She licked the strawberry with mock sorrow and took a small bite out of the tip. “Fine,” she sighed again. “I’ll eat it and you be a jerk.” She licked it again, slowly, catching the chocolate and gave him an innocent look. He was going it that freaking piece of fruit even if she had feed to it to him. And trust me, she would not mind.

“you have made my life complete and I love you so”
Cue inevitable blush. What was it about this girl that got this boy to be a blushing mess? Xio didn’t even have to do anything, and Evan would begin to blush. Teenagers. No one will ever understand them. He furiously shook his head. “No, you really don’t want a crooked smile,” he informed her with a solemn look upon his face, “I have been teased for years over it.” He frowned over dramatically before huffing playfully. A grin spread over his lips. Yes, the crooked one. If Xio loved it, he’ll smile all the time for her, no matter how much he hated it himself. He would do anything for her. He’d do everything for her. Hell, he will do everything for her. Even smiling that crooked smile every chance he got. Evan laughed before pursing his lips together in an almost childish manner. It didn’t last long before he started to laugh and pull Xio closer, pressing their lips together softly. Nothing rushed. Nothing lusty. Just… caring. He didn’t know why, but he liked it this way. Simple and nothing pressured. He smiled gently against her lips before pulling away slowly. As she waved the strawberry at him, he pulled a face and stared at it in mock disgust. “You think I’d poison them?!” he cried in shock. “Geez, Xio,” he huffed, “I see how much you trust me.” He stared at her, fascinated. It was almost as if she was trying to tease him… But that was a ridiculous idea. Teenagers. That’s all. Evan stared for a moment longer before shaking his head. “Fine,” he sighed in mock defeat, opening his mouth widely. “I’ll eat the damned berry,” he muttered, “Just don’t call me a jerk.” He smirked for a moment before mumbling in a teary voice, “It hurts my feelings. I’m really delicate, you know.” He laughed easily, pulling her close to him again. [ okay. so I promise you a MUCH better post and a MUUUUCCCHHHH faster post next time. >_< iloveyou! ] [/blockquote]

"Swear to shake it up if you swear to listen."
“Yes-huh!” She protested despite the fact that the level of adorableness he had going made her want to just agree with anything and everything that he said. Who wouldn’t want a crooked smile if it was anything like Evan’s? She threw in a fake gasp and frowned. “Teased? That’s so mean! I love your crooked smile, I would never, ever tease you about it. In fact, I think it’s sexy.” She said matter of factly. She nearly swooned at the sight of his smile and grinned like a moron cause it was just so fucking cute that she basically had to remind herself to think straight and breathe whenever he did. Seriously, who was stupid enough to tease Evan about something as perfect as his smile? In her opinion, it was just so cute and adorable and perfect and lovely and wow she could go on…it was a good thing he distracted her from the thought.
Though distract wouldn’t be a good word because she hadn’t merely stored the thought. First she was caught in a fit of quiet giggles--I mean, hello, Evan, that pose? Sofuckingcute. Then all her thoughts had just….deteriorated into nothing and the only thing was focused on was pulling him closer so that their lips didn’t break apart. She liked this. The innocence of the way his lips moved against hers, soft and tenderly. There was nothing rushed about the kiss, nothing pressured. It was just…simple. Perfection at its finest. She had literally force herself to pull away from him enough to hear him speak and understand. Otherwise, she would be way to focused on his lips. “Nooo!” She gasped back at him and let her mouth drop in mock horror. She held it open for overdramatic ten seconds and blinked up at him. “But someone else coulda poisoned them when you weren’t looking!” She shifted her eyes in suspicion. “Someone could be after us.”
Well, she was trying to tease him. But this is Xio we’re talking about. She doesn’t do flirting, teasing or anything sexual. Okay, strike that. She doesn’t do it well]/I]. After a moment she mentally kicked herself and she bit off a piece. Honestly. Her trying to be seductive? Please. “Yes!” She pumped her fist in the air and grinned in triumph. “Muahaha! I win!” She popped the small strawberry into his widely opened mouth and smiled like a child who’s just averted punishment. “Heee.” She pushed him very gently. “You’re too delicate for your own good. You hafta toughen up!” She gave him a very stern stare then made growling face at him. “Come on, show me how tough you are!” She poked his chest and tried to escape.

"would you believe me if I said I didn't need you? because I wouldn't believe you if you said the same to me."
Evan stifled a laugh. Sexy? Evan Warner? As if! Honestly, nothing on Evan Warner was ‘sexy’. But he chose not to fight Xio on it. She could believe that if she wanted to, but he hoped she wouldn’t be too disappointed when she found out she was so very wrong. Just to make her happy, he grinned a little bit longer before settling with a soft smile. There was no way he could ever stop smiling around her. He wasn’t quite sure what it was, but he couldn’t completely extinguish the happiness he felt around Xio. Maybe… That’s what made him sure he was in love. Completely, utterly, unhealthily in love with this girl that’s too amazing for him. Damn. Wasn’t he a lucky one?
Cue fit of laughs. The look upon Xio’s face was nothing short of priceless. Evan gave her an ‘are you serious?’ look before shaking his head to soften his laughter. “I’m sure I would have known,” he said before shrugging. “Because maybe I told them to.” He gave her a wide, mischievous grin before laughing it off. As if he could even think for one moment about poisoning Xio. Geez. The boy couldn’t even think about pinching her without feeling guilty, let alone poison. But that’s just what made this all so much fun. They could joke about whatever they pleased and know it’s completely fine. Completely natural. Comfortable. Wonderful.
He allowed her to feed him the berry as he rolled his eyes. Evan clenched the strawberry between his teeth, moving it up and down for a moment without actually taking a bite out of it. He made a soft laughing sound before mumbling sloppily, “Did that make you feel better?” Of course, it didn’t sound quite as clear as he had hoped and it came out as more of a mixture of ‘f’s and ‘s’s. Finally taking a bit out of the fruit, he lifted his other hand to take it out of his mouth as he chewed. He stared at her with a mock disgusted face as he finished chewing and swallowed, another disgusted face following soon after.
“You’re too delicate for your own good. You hafta toughen up!”
Evan pouted as she stared at him. Evan? Tough? A slight breeze could break him in half. Sad, but pretty much true. He made a growling face back at her, leaning forward slightly before pulling back as she poked him. “Ouch,” he mumbled, rubbing the spot on his chest before grinning. Of course he wasn’t that fragile. “You can’t poke me and get away with it!” he said, a fake gasp following after. He wrapped his arms around her firmly to make sure she couldn’t leave, if she were to go. “Me? Tough?” he questioned, laughing slightly. He huffed before pulling a face at her, his cheeks blown up completely and his eyes crossed. Evan held the face for all of five seconds before he began to laugh. “That’s about as tough as I can get,” he said between breaths.

I'll never let you go... don't ever forget, you and me together...forever young..
Xio shot back a serious look of questioning despite the way Evan was looking at her like that was most silly idea on the face on the planet. She was looking at him like they were in the middle of a conspiracy and someone was after them. Her eyes shifted from side to side for a second before she dropped her jaw in the most over dramatic way and stared him down like he had to be lying. “I’ll bet that’s what you did!” She accused and leaned as far away from him as possible without leaving his arms (cause she knew he was only joking) and eyed him very, very carefully. “How am I supposed to trust you now, Evan? If that’s your real name!” Another suspicious look. “Is it? Huh? Huh? I’ll bet your not even a natural brunette!” Yeah, she probably made no sense right now but that was okay. Only Evan understood her random outbursts of insensible jokes. For someone like her, who often found it hard to be funny or witty, she had to have an outlet. Hence he random outbursts.
A big cheesy grin adorned her face as she happily fed him the strawberry. She waited eagerly as if it were the most interesting thing in the world to check if he ate it and giggled. “Yes, it made me feel better.” she said told him firmly and batted her eyelashes. “It just made my entire evening.” It was funny how he resembled a little kid, holding the strawberry between his teeth and talking with added S’s and F’s. It was just too adorable. “Oh, you know you like it,” she rolled her eyes and nodded encouragingly for him to finish the fruit as if it were actually important. “My turn!” She picked one up and threw it in her mouth casually opposite from anything that had been Evan’s reaction. She grinned up at him and nodded again. “Definitely poisonous,” she told him as she reached for another one.
She almost burst into a fit of giggles. Evan? Tough? Heehee. She was possibly more strong than him and she was almost willing to tackle him one day to find out. Not even when he growled could he looked intimidating. He just looked really cute instead. Xio rolled her eyes and giggled lightly at Evan and his silly reactions to her. “Yes-huh!” She squealed and started to move from him. Before she could even get off his lap, his arms were around securing her to him and she whined. “Lemee goooo” She squirmed in his arms and pouted. Her pout faded into a grin complete with loud giggle because oh, wow, that face was hilarious. She had to stifle laughter and cover her mouth to regain calmness before she semi squeaked the words out between giggles that wanted to escape. “Wow. That’s kinda wimpy. How are you going to protect me being that tough?” She sighed into the air and stuck her nose up. Of course, she was only kidding, she knew that. Evan, by far, was the only person who made her feel safe. about as tough as I can get,” he said between breaths.

"you'll always be his girl his girl Friday."
He couldn't suppress the grin that threatened to surface on his lips. Evan watched her with an amused smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth, an eyebrow raised in question. The boy rolled his eyes as she leaned away from him, an over dramatic sigh replacing all other emotions. "Damnit, Xio," he muttered sadly. "You found me out. My name isn't Evan. It never was," he paused before throwing in the offended gasp. "Not a real brunette?!" he cried, a look of horror taking over his features. "Now that's just an insult." He crossed his arms and huffed, looking away from her for a moment before turning back over to her, that stupid crooked grin splayed over his face.
Evan frowned - no, pouted - as Xio teased him on his strength. I mean... Lack thereof. "I can, too, be tough!" he whined childishly, pouting even more. "I can protect you just fine!" he said matter-of-factly, nodding his head to confirm his statement. "I'll just scare them away with my poisonous fruit," he said with a wide grin. Oh, yeah. That'll work. He hugged onto her a little tighter, syncing his breathing with hers. His stomach churned as he felt the inevitable wave of nervousness hit him again. In a few moments, he'd have to tell her. He was going to tell her... And... And... Things would be good, right? He buried his nose in her hair for a moment, just breathing in her scent.
He felt his fingers itching to prod the other container he placed beside the basket, to bring it to her attention. But he didn't have the guts. Oh hell no. Not now. He was far too nervous. What if she was just playing with him for amusement? Not like she ever would, but anything could happen. This was Evan we're talking about here. Evan Warner. He always gets the short end of the stick. He's always the one fucking things over. He's the screw up. The clutz. The oblivious one. The one absolutely in love with this girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
"Xio," he mumbled softly, prodding her arm gently. He took in a deep breath to steady his racing heart, shutting his eyes for a moment. "You know... Y-you," he stammered before shaking his head and stopping. He let out a nervous laugh, kissing her cheek as a mean for distraction. "I can't even describe to you how happy you make me, Xio," he whispered sincerely, his cheeks flaring red. God, he added in his thoughts, I love you more than anything.

"Remeber to breathe."
“AHA!” She pointed an accusing finger at Evan and poked his cheek semi-menacingly. A very not so intimidating glare took over her face and she searched his façade as if he knew something she did not. Cue nodding. “I knew it from the start….what’s your real name. IS IT FREDERICK?!” She shot at him before he gasped. Xio’s fake growl broke into a grin that almost matched his and she laughed, throwing her arms around his neck and hugging him to her. “Evan, you are so crazy.” She kissed his cheek and smiled. She had never met anyone so…perfect. Evan was the only guy she had ever met that wasn’t afraid to be silly and go along with things that made no sense at all. Well, of course that were Fletcher and Andrew. And Ivan. But she didn’t love them. Not like this. They weren’t her air.
“Can not!” Xio retorted in the same childish tone and poked her tongue out at him. “Look at those itty bitty arms! I could probably beat you up!” She squeezed his arms and then his biceps jokingly and shook her head sadly. “Oh, for sure! I mean, seriously. Who wants poisonous fruit…thrown at them? Forreal, I would be scurrred too.” she nodded and popped another strawberry in her mouth and winked, though it probably came out cheesy as hell. She instinctively leaned into Evan and hoped he would hug her just a little tighter. He always did and that made her grin like an idiot but she didn’t care. She was so tempted to jump up and yell, ’I love you, Evan! I am so in love with you it doesn’t make sense and I don’t care!’ She wanted to, but God, she was so afraid. A tiny little voice in her head kept holding her back and whispering the possible rejection she might get.
She rested her sight on him and stared in almost wonderment, taking in everything about him. How the hell was he so perfect and with her of all people. Xio. Xio freaking Beckett. The girl who tripped on solid ground. The girl who was lost when it came to people it shouldn’t make sense for her to have as many friends as she did now. It was so crazy and unexplainable and perfectly wonderful and it was because of [I[him
and he didn’t seem to realize how amazing he was. Everything he did, even when he was just breathing was absolutely flawless in her eyes. She had trouble not thinking about him. Not that she didn’t want to. It was understandable when Ada shot her those looks and groaned. Having someone ALWAYS think about your brother probably got annoying but Xio couldn’t help it. She picked up head to look at him and watched intently. “What is it?” She asked with small smile. God, even when he was nervous and stuttering he was so adorable. His heart was racing. She could tell. She could feel it thumping against his ribcage through his shirt and she could recognize the familiar look of nervousness on his face. If he wanted to distract her, he was going to have to do a better job though she wasn’t complaining. Her throat went completely dry at that moment, the blood rushing to her cheeks. She couldn’t think of anything to say without it sound so cheesy so she did the only thing she could think of. She pulled him close and kissed him lightly, softly, enough to get her response and him know she sincerely felt the same way. I love you so much. Why can’t I just say it? When she pulled away her cheeks were still the same dark red and that shy smile was making its way back. She had to look at the ground otherwise she would never stop blushing. Ever. Her eyes stumbled over a second jar and she titled her head to the side. “What’s in this one?” She asked, picking it up gently.[/blockquote]

"I'll send all my loving to you."
“I knew it from the start….what’s your real name. IS IT FREDERICK?!
Evan pouted as Xio poked his cheek, his nose wrinkling in faux disgust. "No," he said in mock surprise, "My name's not Frederick." He paused, looking at her for a moment before breaking into a grin. "It's Jon," he said with a laugh, poking her side gently. He allowed himself to be pulled into her, gently nuzzling her cheek. Evan laughed, shaking his head. "I am not crazy," he mumbled, pouting more. Of course, though, he knew he was. But he was more than just crazy. He was in love. That made him off the deep end, didn't it? He settled into her side, taking in the fact that they seemed to fit together like cliche puzzle pieces.
"'Itty bitty'?!" he asked in an incredulous tone, an expression of pure astonishment upon his face. He looked down at his arms and his brow furrowed, a frown taking over his lips. Holy shit... My arms are abnormally small... Evan smiled, picking up a strawberry and taking a bite out of it. "Really," he said with a laugh, "Isn't everyone afraid of poisonous fruit?" He pulled her closer to him, smiling softly down at her. God. He didn't even know it was possible to be this far into love with someone. But he was glad that he was this deep in love with Xio and no one else.
He felt his heart leap into his throat. Oh God. This was it. Well, part of it. One of two. Evan took in a deep breath in a vain attempt to steady his breathing and failed, his heart pounding rapidly against his chest. He leaned into her, kissing her back just as softly. He felt his breath hitch in his throat at the mention of the other container. Oh shit. "U-uhm," he stammered out, slowly going to reach for the plate in her hands. He shifted it around in between his hands, his breathing giving away how obviously nervous he was. "I-it was something I-I-I had to ask you...," he muttered beneath his breath, licking his lips to relieve the sudden dryness to over come them.
Evan took one final, deep breath before slowly lifting the cover off of the plate. In the center of it was a small piece of folded paper. He stared at it for a moment, remembering its content. Inside of the paper, written in his typical scrawl read:
Xio Beckett, would you officially be my girlfriend?
He held it out to her, a questioning look on his face. Evan bit his lip, trying to hide the fact he was trembling with nervousness. Oh please, oh please, oh please don't push me away. He waited for her to pick it up and read it before leaning in close to her whispering in shaky tones, "What do you say?"

"You have found her now go and get her."
Xio just couldn’t stifle the free, happy giggles that kept passing her lips, one after the other in a sea innocent delight that only she could pull off. Her cheeks turned a little pink and her eyes crinkled around the edges as her lips curled into a grin. She looked like a little girl who had a crush on her next door neighbor. The kind where they sat in the grass all day talking about silly things like what the moon was really made of and pushed each other on the swings. It was just so innocent and pure and you could see it in her eyes. Not to say that she was a child. Obviously she was a little more mature than she had been when she came to WA and loads more mature than when she was five but the smile was the same no matter what she did because everything that she did was fueled by genuine love and innocence. Even being with Evan when they got intimate. Every touch, every kiss was just as innocent as the day she met him. She was so utterly afraid that he was going to wake up and realize the he was with her of all people. She looked at him and then she looked at herself and it just didn’t make sense. It was like The Prince and the pauper or something equal where he was with the wrong person.
Now she was curious, oh yes. She was interested to find out what was in this special container than happed to look ordinary. Just like the last one, yet there was evidently something special about it with the way he was holding. With the way his voice hitched in his voice and he stammered a little more than usual and even his body grew a little warmer. Xio quirked an eyebrow and licked her lips before tilting her head and shooting him a curious glance. “Ask away,” She said softly, locking eyes with him. She held his gaze for a moment before realizing that there was obvious a tie between the container and the question and glanced down at his shaking hands removing the lid. She stared for a moment, blinking at the piece of paper before reaching down to pick it up.
Why did it feel like the paper was suddenly heavy. Because she knew it was obviously important? Because it making him nervous and that meant something? She gently unfolded the paper and her heart beat sped up a little faster with each crease she straightened out. She couldn’t help but peek at him one more time before focusing her eyes on his scrawl. It took her a few seconds. She blinked one, twice before mouthing the words silently and gulping.
Maybe it was those damn butterflies in her stomach or maybe love really did take over your whole body when you were with the right person but either way she kept opening her mouth and nothing would come but a smile. Taking her lip into her bottom lip she peeked up through her hair to see his face and blushed. It was like going out with him for the first time. Like waiting for him as she paced her room, eager to dance with him and so afraid to touch him and opening her door to meet him. A shiver crawled up her spine and circled her neck making goose bumps rise on her arms at the sound of his breathy voice. Cue more blushing.
“Do I have to write it out,” She mumbled stupidly and gave a shy smile. “Or I can just say yes?”

I'm glad I found you first.
Every single thing he wanted to tell Xio – to ask her – it didn’t seem like enough. It was as if he couldn’t quite place his words correctly anymore and nothing made sense. Welcome to the world of love. He recalled preparing all of this for her. Thinking up where they would go, how they would get there, what they would do, what he would say – it took him longer than anyone would think. But he was oh-so glad he took his time. Because now that he thought about it, it made everything perfect. Especially the fact that he was with the perfect girl.
Evan watched her every movement carefully, his breath seizing in his chest. His thoughts raced, one crashing into another in a vain attempt to sort themselves out. Evan stared at her as she would look up at him, swallowing the lump in his throat. Oh God. Was she going to say no? Or was this just her way of delaying the pain? Wait. Why couldn’t he just think it was perfectly fine? Why couldn’t he think for one moment that she may actually say yes?
“Do I have to write it out, or I can just say yes?”
He stared at her for a moment, her words bouncing around inside his skull. Was he hearing things or did she really say yes? Slowly, a smile crept onto his lips. Evan opened his mouth, attempting to spew out a witty reply but he couldn’t. His mouth resembled that of a fish as he gaped and grasped for words in reply. Was it natural for his heart to be welling up like that? He felt as though his heart could explode at any moment. But he prayed that wasn’t the case. “I don’t care how you reply,” he said, pulling her into him, “As long as you say yes.” The boy broke into a grin – that inevitable, child-like, crooked and genuine one. He leaned into her, kissing her lips softly at first before pulling her closer to deepen their connection.
He pulled away after a few moments, keeping her face close to his. His breathing was still uneven and showing how badly his nerves were taking over. At least he was keeping the uncontrollable shaking well hidden. “God, Xio,” he breathed softly, staring into her eyes for a moment. “I-I just can’t tell you how I really do c-care about you,” he stuttered, closing his eyes. Actually, I can. One of two complete. Now for part two. “I need to tell you s-something,” he whispered, biting his lip. Now, really. This was it. This was the final anything and everything. “I-I-I,” he stammered out, his heart pounding violently against his chest. Evan wouldn’t doubt it if Xio could feel his pulse thumping inside of him. He took another deep, shaky breath in a vain attempt to calm the butterflies inside of him, only to end in failure. This was it. Could he really go through with it? Well, she already said yes to being his girlfriend so at least he wouldn’t walk away completely empty handed. “I-I l-love you,” he said slowly, his voice quiet. The words were strange to say, especially since they bared sure a heavy meaning. But he knew that he meant it. He couldn’t be more sincere at this point. He just needed to let her know that.
“I love you, Xio Beckett,” he repeated confidently, taking both of her hands in his, thumbs grazing over her knuckles. “I love you so much it’s unhealthy,” he said with a wide, lopsided grin, the words giving his lips a pleasant, tingling feeling. “I-I just don’t think you know how much I really do care for you.” He let out a small, contented sigh, the smile on his lips unable to leave. “I love you more than air – more than life itself,” he clarified, unable to stop himself from elaborating. It was something he couldn’t stop. Once he started, he wouldn’t shut up until he knew for sure she got the point – the fact that he was fucking in love with her.

"You're my air...please don't walk away."
It was safe to say that she was staring right now and she didn’t even realize it. She was completely and totally, utterly mesmerized by everything about Evan Warner. Everything. The sparkle in his eyes created by the reflection of the candles around them; little dots swaying in the dark windows that often kept her blushing. The way his lips curled into that crooked smile he hated so much. She would understand why--it was adorable. It was innocent. It was genuine. It was perfect in her eyes because it was a part of it. Who the hell wanted a perfect smile like everyone else? Her eyes intently rested on the way his chest rose and fell with each breath he took--how did he manage to make breathing look amazing? They moved over him, slowly, carefully as if trying to imprint everything about him in her mind and never let it go.
There were too many words in her head to think clearly at the precise moment. She was stuck on trying to pinch herself and remind herself this was not a dream and another piece was still mesmerized and yet another was so lost she didn’t even know what to say or ask him first because just a simple smile from him left her so astounded and fluttery on the inside. She wanted to know everything about him. She wanted to know why he smiled at her the way he did and why he blushed so much when he was around her when he was hardly the shy type. She wanted to know what made him happy and what he was thinking about at this exact moment. She wanted so many things and the one common factor they all held was him. Everything seemed to revolve around without even trying and she was okay with that. For the first time in her life, she was okay with letting someone in completely. She was okay with not following the rules, with not sitting in the corner, passing up opportunities. Everything was okay and Evan made right.
There were no words that she could think up that would the response that she wanted. How was she supposed to project true happiness? Xio leaned into Evan’s arms and wrapped her around his waist firmly, hugging her to her chest, pressing her body close to his and burying her face his neck for a second before looking up at him. There it was again! That smile! That insane unbelievable picture of perfection. She couldn’t even see it without breaking into a stupid grin and you know what? She didn’t care how stupid she looked or how silly she sounded. All that mattered was that Evan wanted to be her. “This is me saying yes,” she mumbled out because it was hard to smile this big and talk at the same time without forgetting where she was at. Xio pressed her into back against his and let the soft kiss take over her, her eyes drifting shut.
It was crazy the way such a simple thing like a kiss could leave her so breathless and dazed. She pressed her lips lightly against his cheek and rested her forehead against it. Just smell of the breath alone was making her dizzy. It always smelled so sweet and intoxicating. She blinked a few times and sucked a nervous but happy breath. Did he really care about her that much? It was such a peculiar feeling to fathom. She opened her mouth to say something but he beat her to it and she gazed at him.
“I need to tell you s-something.”
Why was he looking at her like that? Like he wanted to look at her and never look away. Like she was actually worth something and could be someone amazing one day? Xio searched Evan’s face for an answer and only found butterflies in her stomach. Whatever he had to say , it was either really good or really bad. Either way it was making him the most nervous she had ever seen and she wanted squeeze him tightly and tell him it would be okay, whatever happened.
“I-I l-love you.”
Her skin prickled, her heart stopped beating, her mouth went dry. What was what? Did--did he just say he loved her? Love? The feeling where you want to be with someone for the rest of your life? Those words she had been dying to tell him every since they first met, even when she hadn’t know him. She hadn’t realized it yet--but she had loved him from the very first insult he had every thrown at her. It had hadn’t made any sense then and she had been to blind to see it, but it all made sense now when she looked at him. How could it not?
She sucked in another breath--this one was lighter and seemed to fill her lungs better, like she could finally breathe now that he telling her, like she had been waiting for this--for him all her life and now it complete. Now her life truly mattered.
“I love you more than air – more than life itself,.”
She couldn’t even think of what to say without stuttering and stumbling over her words. “I--I-Ev--You--” She gulped and took another breath to try and steady the unhealthy rythymn in her chest. Her mouth kept going dry and she kept losing her place. She knew exactly what she wanted to say she just didn’t know how to get it out of her mouth. So she took her hands, placed them on his cheek, pulled him close and kissed him for a moment--soft and gentle enough to her meaning across before sighing against his lips. “I love you, too, Evan Warner. You--you’re my whole life.”

excuse me while I run around in circles because I just heard a rumor that you love me my hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
He stared as his confession hung in the air. Evan’s breath was trapped somewhere between his lungs and his mouth and it was doomed to be lost forever because he was pretty sure he forgot how to breathe. Why was it so nerve wracking that she was just staring at him like that? Normally, he’d give anything for Xio to stare merely look at him. But at the moment, he just wished she’d say something. He had just poured his whole heart onto that silver platter sitting beside him and she couldn’t say anything. Maybe he was just over analyzing, or maybe he’s just too nervous to think straight.
“I--I-Ev--You--”
He felt his heart begin to slowly sink. This was her way of trying to put him down gently, isn’t it? Of course. She didn’t want to crush the poor fifteen year old boy. He stared at her with wide eyes, searching her eyes for some sort of clue as to what she was thinking. Wait. Why couldn’t he just use telepathy? Wait. Why would he? The boy’s too nervous – too scared – to think logically. Evan felt like he should just stop her now. To stop her from having to make up some excuse as to why he shouldn’t do that. As to why he’s wrong. As to why she couldn’t ever love him back. But why is it that it never came?
He closed his eyes for a moment, only to open them again as he felt her hands on his cheeks, pulling him into her. He kissed her back, completely unsure of how to feel. This definitely wasn’t one of the reactions he expected upon getting rejected. He reluctantly allowed her to pull away, keeping his eyes lightly shut. Her sigh against his lips made his body relax for a moment. Maybe things weren’t as bad as he prepared himself for. No. Definitely not. They were better. Much better.
“I love you, too, Evan Warner. You--you’re my whole life.”
He found himself speechless. And pretty much everybody that has ever met Evan Warner knows that’s really, really hard. Nearly impossible, actually. But that’s just what Xio did to him. He didn’t feel the need to use words. Mostly because every time he looked at her, he forgot every single word he’s ever learned in his life. But right now… He actually forgot how to speak. And to breathe. Does she even know how much he’s wanted her to say that back to him? How much it meant to him that she even felt remotely similar to him as he did to her?
He pulled her closer, taking her hands in his, kissing her a little more passionately, to put it across that inside, he’s screaming “OhmyGod. I can’t believe I’m in love with you and you love me, too”. He pulled away from her after a few moments, the smile on his lips still there. Honestly, he didn’t think it’d be going away for a while. As long as he had Xio, he’d never stop smiling. He released a soft sigh, taking in much needed air. “Xio, I,” he whispered, shaking his head slightly. “I can’t even tell you how long I’ve wanted to tell you,” he muttered, slightly embarrassed for his confession. “But I’m really glad I did,” he whispered against her lips, kissing her again. His mind raced with the other probabilities he thought about prior to this. Everything he wanted to do, more than half of which were now completely, and everything he wanted to say. Pulling away again, he gazed into her eyes, smiling widely. He really was the luckiest boy on Earth.
A soft wind blew through the room, causing a shiver to coast down his spine. He hadn’t realized how cold it had gotten since they arrived in the tower. Evan pulled her body closer to his, nuzzling her cheek. “As nice as this is,” he muttered, trying to bite back his laughter, “It’s really, really cold.” Then it clicked in the back of his mind. He prepared for this, right? So, maybe, just maybe, the weather did work out to his advantage. He wanted to get over his fear. He wanted to let go of all insecurities. And he wanted to do this all with her. Her and only her. No one else would do. Xio was the only one he wanted to conquer his phobia with.
“C’mon,” he muttered, gently nudging her. “Let’s go back inside.” He sent her a small smile, reluctantly untangling himself from her. He got up slowly, holding out his hands to help her up. One by one, he allowed his illusion-candles to disappear and fade, dulling the light around them as he gently tugged her back down the stairs, forgetting all the stuff lying across the floor. As far as he was concerned, he’d come back for it later. But this was more important. And as far as she was concerned, she had no clue where they were going.
[ reason for the strikeout: halfway through my post, I thought of a better lyric. :P ]

And don't be afraid to love for the way he makes you feel.
Had that been the right answer? Xio licked her lips and stared at Evan for a reaction to her response. Someone how the silence between them wasn’t what she had expected. She hadn’t been counting on the stare he was giving her. It made her heart heavy, like it was barely hanging on the end of a thread and it might fall and sink. Why was he staring at her like that? Usually when people said they loved you, they smile and things like this were so unnatural for Xio that she was doing her best to not let the old take over. That small, shy, genuinely afraid part of Xio was doing her utmost best to convince the rest of her that this was all a dream--or worse, what if it was some cruel joke? What if he’d only said that to see what she said in response and this was his way of trying not to laugh in her face? No, no. Xio had to remind herself that Evan wasn’t like that--he wasn’t a jerk. She had to give him more credit when it came to him holding her heart. Yes, it scared the hell out of her but he was a good guy--the best and she trusted him. So, if he said he loved her, no matter how incredulous it sounded, he had to mean it. Because he had never, ever said that to her before and he had never heard him just throw it around so it evidently meant something. It had to.
She took a deep breath and waited for him to speak. To breathe. To say or do anything at all to prove her silly fears wrong. She almost gave up. There was so much silence and it had just happened to come after she had put herself out there and let me tell you, that was harder than you think. This was Xio. Almost, but she didn’t because how could she give up when he was squeezing her hands like that and how could she when he was pressing his lips into hers like that and leaving her breathless? It was enough to make her faint from the sheer fact that it was too good to be true but his hold around her kept her conscious.
Now it made sense; why he was so silent. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to speak, it was because he couldn’t. Just like her. There were all these emotions trapped in her throat but no matter how many times she opened her mouth, nothing came out and so she ended up looking stupid and lost. But she wasn’t. She knew exactly what she wanted to say, she knew exactly what she wanted to do but her body was frozen in shock. She matched his smile, bright and wide and sucked in another breath. Only he had ever managed to leave her this breathless. “Evan,” She bit her lip but it was no use, that smile was going to be stuck there for a long time. Possible all eternity. “I’m really glad you did,” She whispered back, her voice still breathless--whether it was from the kiss or his words, she didn’t know. “I’ve--” She kissed him back and let her lips linger on his before going on between kisses. “I’ve been in love with you since the day I met you.”
“Of course, I didn’t know it then,” She smiled sheepishly and leaned her head against his neck. “I was too stupid to see it but I did. I do. I love you, Evan.” This words weren’t even strange to her anymore. They fit. They just did. She had no problem saying it to him and she wouldn’t have a problem telling anyone in the world. Hell, if anyone asked her, she would stand up on a table and yell it for everyone to hear.
This was nice. Absolutely perfect. Just sitting here, with him, nuzzled against him like a perfect match; body for body. He was right. Xio laughed lightly and nodded against his skin. It was cold. The temperature had dropped much lower since they had gotten here and now the idea of going back inside sounded mighty good to her ears. What was better than going on a date with Evan Warner than going back to his dorm just to lay around and be with him? Actually, she didn’t care where they went as long as his arms were around her. If he told her he wanted to stay right here, she would wouldn’t utter one complaint so long as he didn’t let her go.
“Alright,” She allowed him to pull her up and happily hooked an arm through his and followed his lead. “Where are we going?” She whispered into the cold air and looked around as the illusioned candles around them gradually faded out until they were surrounded in darkness. It didn’t really matter, she was just curious. Spending so much time with Evan made her so. But she didn’t wait for an answer, she just followed him down the spiral craze of stairs into the night. Her body immediately shook once they exited the tower, a cruel gust of cold wind hitting them. “Wherever we go, please let it be warm.” She joked and pulled him tighter.
