Why was it that whenever you wanted some peace, quiet and privacy that it was never ever up for grabs? It was like the universe wanted to taunt you. It wanted to dangle these three factors of life in front of her face, let you also grasp them, before slapping you in the face and snapping them away again? It was so frustrating, antagonizing, and rather irritating too. And it seemed to happen just when you weren't in the mood for having to deal with the fact that you weren't going to get what you want. Well, unfortunately for Gretchen, she wasn't too fond of not getting what she wanted. At the moment, all the teenager was hoping for was a small slither of peace. At times, she loathed being in a dorm, as opposed to having her own room at home. There was always some kind of commotion, some kind of distraction, and ultimately; someone around. Most of the time she appreciated the company, but everyone wanted their own space.
So her dorm was a no-go. Library, auditorium and cafeteria were all a big no-no. They always seemed to hold some amount of action and distraction, which was precisely the things that Gretch was trying to avoid. Honestly. If you thought about it, the cure to a headache, and an impatient temper and a need to finish an essay wasn't going to be helped by having commotion buzzing around you. Hence the reason why the teenager was climbing a stair case that led to the third floor rather hastily. The girl made a bee-line straight for a balcony that just so happened to lead to the rooftops of this part of the castle. This was her last resort of peace, before the teen was going to be force to actually leave the castle. And no, she wasn't too impressed by this thought either. Once on the balcony, Gretchen shifted her messenger bag on her shoulder, before climbing up, attempting to reach the rooftop above. She did, eventually, after clearing some of the snow that had gathered above. Swiping away the cold frozen water, the vampire swept the muck onto the baloneys below, clearing enough space for herself to sit.
She wasn't particularly grateful for the chilly weather, either. The girl wore a black and gray patterned jacket, with a soft red button-up shirt underneath. It was casual enough for the afternoon, but still good enough to make her look stylish. Around her neck was a gray and black thinly checkered scarf that tied so that it formed a 'V' on her chest. As for pants, Gretchen had simply slipped into a pair of gray skinny jeans, whilst slipping on a pair of black flats. Her hair was silky and wavy, falling down in layers on her shoulders, as the teenager adjusted her seating, letting her legs dangle off the rooftop. Oh, how relieved she was to have found a peaceful place aware from distractions. Feeling at ease now, Gretchen pulled her hiptop from her coat pocket, sliding up the top and scrolling to her messages to reply to the last text from her brother.
Ah, but little did she knew, this well-earned silence was yet to be interrupted.
