Aw, he was…adorable. The way he pouted like that made her stomach do this thing. Its not explainable. It felt like a shock of adrenaline passed through her stomach but she could remain calm enough to be normal. It was like eating cake and feeling the rush of the sweetness hit your stomach but it wasn’t in a bad way. “Oh, psh,” she rolled her eyes like she could have cared less and poked him again, this time in the ribs. “Oh, you probably cry yourself to sleep,” She teased. Ha. Like he would ever cry himself to sleep over her. Yeah, right.
It was crazy how seemed to know the perfect words to make her heart beat just a little bit faster. Cheesy, but oh so true. She didn’t know if that was good or bad…It had been a rhetorical question, but if he wanted to answer that was just fine. He always had something interesting to say so she was curious to hear what she could possibly give him in return. It was just a joke, she knew that, but nevertheless, she wanted to know. Did he know he had her this way? He had to know…the way he smiled at her made her breath fall short and her skin prickle in delight. A smile. Just a smile? Xio raised an eyebrow and chuckled very softly. “That’s it, Warner? Just a smile?” She pouted and blinked her eyes. “Well, then, sucks for you!”
Was this seriously happening or was this one of those cruel dreams that felt like it was completely real and just as the best part came someone woke you up? Because Xio had had too many of those dreams to know that when something happened, it usually wasn’t real or it didn’t last. Instinctively, she wanted to say this wasn’t real but it was, as hard as it was to believe that. Those crazy butterflies sleeping in her stomach swarmed again at the sound of her name. It always sounded so much better whenever he said it. Always. She took her attention away from the ground of the castle to meet his eyes. There he went blushing again. Like he had anything to be nervous about. This was Xio he was talking to. Not someone amazingly amazing.
"May I hold your hand?"
Her mouth went dry and Xio stared up at him. Reflex said no. No, no, no. Did he have a death wish? Was he out of his mind? She swallowed hard and blinked up at him. Licking her lips, she nodded slowly, unsurely. This was incredibly nerve racking beyond belief. Her hands were shaking and he hadn’t even taken a hold of it. Jesus, her mouth was so dry…She didn’t want him to think that she didn’t want him to, because she did--oh, she did. She was just afraid. Xio forced the anxiety down and smiled up at Evan. From what she heard from her few friends, most guys just did those kinds of things. She was surprised in a way that he had asked her first but this was Evan…and apart from the day they first met, he had been nothing but sweet to her. Her cheeks burned pink. “Evan?” She said softly. “Do you have any idea how many times I’ve wished you would ask me that?” Since he was being brave and taking risks, she would too. Xio stuck her hand out to his with a shy smile and rapidly beating heart.
Taking his hand was like a shock to her. Not because she was doing anything to him--no, trust me, she was concentrating pretty well to stay calm and not hurt him. No, it was a shock because she hadn’t felt human hands touch hers in so long. Not like this. She exhaled a breath she hadn’t realized she had been holding in a squeezed Evan’s hand just a little bit. This was really nice. More than you can imagine.

"Yes," he sighed, throwing an over-dramatic arm over his eyes, "I cry myself to sleep every single night." Evan laughed heartily, playfully sticking his tongue out at her. He loved the fact that all they did now was joke. The light hearted content made his confidence soar higher than it already was. Not like he needed it, but it helped. He couldn't feel shy around Xio. No, he felt that he needed to be confident and the shyness that sometimes overcame him was a hindrance. But he'd ignore it and let whatever came at him - whatever emotion - take its own natural course.
Evan laughed as she pouted, the opposite of his initial request. "Yes," he said, "That's all I want." He smiled gently, his eyes dancing over her facial features. He left the moment there for a moment, before gently turning that smile into a smirk. "Ha," he scoffed, "There's no need for the use of last names, Beckett." He laughed, loving the fact he could play her game right back at her. "All I asked for was a smile," he said with a grin, "Isn't that the least you could give me for letting my ass fall out of that tree for you?"
“Do you have any idea how many times I’ve wished you would ask me that?
He smiled softly, feeling her hand take his. He couldn't help the ultimate giddiness taking over him - it was sort of inevitable when it came down to Evan being in a situation involving Xio. The boy was absolutely crazy. For her. There. It's out in the open. His heart, he swore, skipped a beat... or four. He felt her hand gently squeeze his and he returned the gesture without hesitation. "Now," he said gently, "It's not that bad, is it?"

This heart will start a RIOT! in me
The girl exploded into giggles at Evan’s little scene, her eyes dancing with amusement, her lip between her teeth and she tried to calm her laughter before she laughed so hard she couldn’t breath anymore. She nodded, a little out of breath from laughing and tried to look like she had known it all along. “I knew it!” She confirmed, and waved a hand carelessly. She was having too much fun at the moment even bother being shy. Eyes wide, Xio put on an insulted expression and gasped loudly. “Stick that out at me again and I’m going to make you sorry,” she threatened, her voice dark--though for Xio that wasn’t very menacing. How could it be when she was so shy and quiet. Even now, as she was outgoing and less afraid to speak, you could hear it in her voice the way she was afraid to say the wrong thing and cause Evan to loose interest in her. Sure, compared to her normal self, this Xio was more fun and would joke around. But a small hint of shyness could always be found within her.
How could one person be so…beautiful? The thought made her blink in surprise. Crushes were one thing, but she had never been this captivated by a boy in her life. Especially not a younger one. He wasn’t that young, but still, two grade below you usually was frowned upon by most people. Not that she cared. Did she? Maybe it was just the shock of feeling this way getting to her. She didn’t want him to laugh at her and ended telling her that he just wanted to be friends or that it wasn’t like that. One thing was for sure, most guys didn’t look that innocent and appealing when they smiled like that. She was fairly positive he wasn’t that innocent but nevertheless, when she smiled that gently it made those damn butterflies who had made a home in her stomach flutter like crazy. Xio did a little ‘humph’ sound and pretended to glare at Evan, her eyes squinted tight and narrow, her lips in a pout. “Wellll….” Xio drew out the word playfully and tapped her chin. “You did fall pretty hard…” Another second passed and she shrugged. “Nahhh. If you want me to smile then you have to earn it.” She poked him one last time. Hey, it was a good excuse to touch him.
This was definitely not how she had pictured it would be she held someone’s hand. It was so much better. The excitement running through was like fuel, making it easy for her to concentrate in the back of her mind. She barely had to think about it. She wanted to gasp and jump and point and yell ‘Oh my god, You’re alive!’
There he was. Alive as could be, looking too pretty for words, holding her hand of all people. He squeezed it and that obvious, expected tint of red crawled onto her cheeks. They were so warm and soft, his hands. She didn’t want him to let go for fear that he might not want to ever again. “No,” Xio she said meekly, a soft smile on her lips. She tucked her lip into her teeth. “It’s too bad…Your hands are a bit long…and clammy…and cold,” She teased. She had to tease him. Otherwise, something stupid and cheesy might come out and word vomit was never good. “You aren't afraid?” She asked after a moment of silence. Serious but unsure, she gazed up at him. “To hold my hand, I mean.” She revised, having not been very clear. She was trying to figure out why he hadn’t taken off in fear of her losing control.

He quickly sucked his tongue back into his mouth, making a louder than necessary sound effect. Evan straightened himself up a bit, pursing his lips tightly before he grinned, laughing slightly. "I doubt you could," he said light heartedly, knowing too well she could. The most he could do was throw pebbles at her with his mind and learn stuff about her through her clothing. Not really intimidating. But it’s not like he would try to be, anyways.
He let out a faux relieved sigh. “Good,” he said, smiling widely, “I’m glad to know my fall wasn’t for nothing.” He laughed as she poked him, crunching himself up a bit. He really didn’t like it when people poked him, but he figured that Xio was now on the list of exceptions. Hell, he’d let her poke him all day. He didn’t mind one bit.
He frowned as she playfully made fun of his hands. He made a sniffling noise, feigning tears. “If you don’t like my hands,” he said, dripping over-done tears in his voice, “Then I’ll just find someone else that actually likes my cold, clammy, long hands.” He made a few more sniffling noises before sticking his quivering lower lip out a little too far in an over exaggerated pout. He laughed, squeezing her hand again in reassurance. He couldn’t really get over the fact that he had his hand laced with hers. A few times he even caught himself looking down just to make sure it was real. Indeed it was.
“You aren't afraid?”
He mulled the question over for a moment, really thinking it through. Yeah, he guessed, he was a little worried, but definitely not fully afraid. Actually, there weren’t too many things that Evan could think of that bestowed fear in him. Sure, getting hurt, physically and emotionally, was one. But he didn’t think that could happen with Xio. Well, he sure as hell hoped not. Let’s put it that way. “No,” he said, rethinking the question. Now that he really thought about it, he wasn’t all too afraid. “Well, yes, kind of. But no as well,” he said, trying to put his thoughts into words. Evan let out a sigh, trying to choose his words right. “I’m not all too afraid,” he said slowly, “Because even if I do get hurt or whatever, it was worth it.” A deep crimson crept up his neck and across his cheeks and nose. He felt almost dumb for saying it the way he did, but speaking the truth is always better than hiding it.

Let's start, start hey!
Why did he have to be as cute as he was? Xio cursed herself for being born this way. She had to fight the urge to kiss him. Hey, she was a teenage girl. Kissing was fun for them too. Not that she would, but yeah, it would have been nice. Settling for his smile instead would be to be enough. For life. And right now, seeing him stick his tongue out at her like that, this close to him, eh, forever wasn't sounding too good. Her eyes went up to give Evan a disbelieving look. "I so could. You don't know the kinds of things I can do with chocolate Ice cream." Yeah, it made no sense. Oh well. It was random and just the kind of comeback she wanted.
"Oh, of course not!" She shot him a big, obvious wink before going on to frown. He didn't seem to like getting poked much. She'd better cool it. "But, nevertheless, Mr. Evan, you have to earn what you want." The things he would do, no doubt would be hilarious. they always were. Now, honestly? Who the crap would want to see her smile? Evazn had better things he could be doing that pitying her right now...Xio shook her head, forgetting she was next to him. "Makes no sense at all," She muttered to herself.
Ha. Cold? Clammy? Long? PLEASE. Evan Warners had were perfect. Okay, so they were the only hands she had truly touched in the last like, nine years, but really, she couldn't make fun of them and be serious. Not a chance. "No, no, no!" She broke her indifferent facade and pouted. "I take it back! i like holding your cold, clammy, long hands." She grinned. Still had to get that little tease in there. Now they were both pouting. Giggling, she reached across hiss lap and took his other hand too and squared herself to face im better. The time, touching him wasn't so scary but the fear of hurting him wasn't going to completely go away that fast. "See," she smiled gently. "I like holding your hands and stuff. We should do this more often." Crap. Word vomit. What kinda of stupid line was that?!
So truthfully, Xio was terrified to his Evan's answer. Just knowing he was scared would be enough to want to let go of him. She exhaled a beath of air, filled with relief. She keep doing that, she needed to stop being so nervous but she couldn't help it. He made her nevous! How old was he, like sixteen?! For God sakes, this wasn't supposed to happen but it was and she wanted to let it. There were just so many variables though. What was the right decision?
“Because even if I do get hurt or whatever, it was worth it.”
Xio's dark eyes went into palpable surprise. please don't be a dream, please don't be a dream... Her eyes flickered to their intwined hands. It was real. Head ducked, She gazed up at him through eye lashes. "I'm glad you think its worth it," she whispered then leaned in to him, not too close thouhg. Only enough to be five inches away from his face...and his lips...
"Do you think that's all that would be worth it?" Her voice kept coming out so low and nervous. What was it that she really wanted? Not even she knew for sure. What a stupid question. She leaned back to her normal distance from him and coughed nervously. "Don't answer that."

"I so could. You don't know the kinds of things I can do with chocolate ice cream."
Evan blushed, unable to help himself. He was a boy; a teenaged boy. Need there be anything else said? He couldn’t help but imagine what she could do with chocolate ice cream. He briefly shook his head, sweeping the thoughts away quickly, regaining his innocence. Well, as much as he could obtain. He coved his brief… distraction with a hearty laugh. “I doubt it could be that bad,” he said, realize a little too late that the statement could be a tad bit double sided. Mentally, he slapped himself repeatedly.
“Earn what I want?” he said, gasping loudly. “All I asked for was a simple facial expression,” he cried, letting out a faux frustrated sigh, ”how hard is that?” He couldn’t help but let his head hang for a moment in disappointment, his other hand delivering a face palm straight to his forehead. “How about I just throw you in the lake,” he said, grinning almost evilly, “Despite how cold it is, and see how wide you’ll smile then.” He let out a healthy laugh, squeezing her hand lightly. He shook his head, ridding the laughter. “I couldn’t do that to you,” he said with a small smile. “You’re wearing my jacket. I don’t want it wet,” he said, grinning playfully.
Evan let out a mock sniffle of sadness, pretending to retract his hand from hers. “Cold and clammy? I can deal with,” he said, letting out a few more fake sniffles, “But long is just an insult.” He laughed, rolling his eyes. He couldn’t help but blush at her suggestion on holding hands. It was just too cute, he couldn’t help himself. If anyone else would have said it, he would have laughed uncontrollably. But when Xio said it, it was adorable and cute and wonderful. But then again, everything Xio said, even did, was wonderful. “Yeah,” he said with a nodded. “We should. And I’ll try to make my hands less cold and clammy,” he joked.
”Do you think that's all that would be worth it?”
He forcefully swallowed down the lump in his throat. His nerves suddenly jumped and multiplied to about twenty fold, the butterflies stirring to life again. He held his breath, afraid to breathe. Being this close to her, to her lips, it made his stomach flop anxiously. He could almost see in her eyes that she was debating the same thing he was. But it didn’t last. A sharp pang of hurt and disappointment hit his stomach as she pulled away. He released his captured breath, hoping that the hurt he felt didn’t show across his face. But unfortunately, he was pretty sure it did.
He wanted to answer her question. Like fuck he wanted to. Evan had an answer. He almost always had an answer. He sat in silence for a moment, debating whether he should just answer her question anyways or listen to her for once. He chose the latter. He didn’t answer it. He countered it with another question. One completely uncalled for. “What are you afraid of, Xio?” he mumbled, hoping she’d understand what he meant.

Christ. Xio mentally cursed herself. Only she could say something that innocent and it come out sounding the way it did. Now he probably thought she was trying to screw him or something and was most certainly not the case seeing as Xio was a virgin and couldn’t exactly touch anyone on whim. What surprised her more than her stupid actions though, was the blush on cheeks, though quite cute. She stared at him in confusion before realizing what kind of mental images she had probably given him. Hello? What do most teenage boys think when you put Ice Cream and girl in the same sentence like that? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Xio laughed nervous and looked away from him.
“Oh, hush puppy,” She waved him. “it isn’t about how hard it is,” Once again, she felt the blush crawl up cheeks. Now everything sounded like a sexual joke, great. “Er…its about the principle. If you want, it you have to ea--” Eyes wide, cut short, Xio shook her head and leaned away from him. “I swear to god, Evan, if you do, I will bite you.” Xio didn’t swim. End of story. And she never bothered to learn either. Well, she had tried once when she was kid but failed because it scared her so much. Seriously, the fact that he could throw her into a lake scared her. What if she drowned? Or froze? Or both?! Oh, thank God. She squeezed his hand back in relief, despite the fact that she knew he’d been kidding. “Phew…HEY!” She glared at him playfully. “Gee, thanks. Just watch. I’m going to fall in one day and no will be there to save me and I’m going to die and you’re gonna wish you hadn’t said that.” She stuck her tongue out him and smiled sweetly. He was right, she was wearing his jacket. And she didn’t plan on giving it back anytime soon.
“No, wait,” Xio pouted and grabbed his hands back. “I was kidding, I love your hands, their perfect!” they really were. She was starting to make a connection there. The bolder her statements, the more he blushed. She rather liked it. In her head, her sentences still sounded really stupid and cheesy but at least he didn’t seem to think so, or if he did, he didn’t seem to mind. As long as kept talking to her, she would keep dishing them, no matter how dorky. “I take it back,” She repeated. “They aren’t cold or long or clammy. Honest.” She rubbed the top of them with her thumbs and smiled gently. “They’re fine the way they are. You, just stay right here.”
She really needed to stop opening her big mouth. Okay, yeah, that made no sense. But she needed to stop talking.
So many different actions and urges passed through her mind and electrified Xio’s body. She wanted to be closer. She only needed to be a few inches closer. Just a few and they would been touching lips; kissing. It was evident. They were both thinking the exact same thing and that’s what killed Xio. For some crazy reason he wanted this too and neither of them seemed to be moving. It was like her entire body was made of lead. She frozen in place, too close to think properly and yet too far give in and do what they both wanted and trust me, she wanted it. Bad. She had never wanted something so bad in her life, except to be normal. The way he frowned, that look in his eyes and she finally forced her body to move away was unbearable. She wanted to! She didn’t like seeing that look in his eyes. It was bad enough to make her want to do a double take and kiss him, right that second. No warning, no words, nothing. But she couldn’t bring herself to do. The fear was too much. She pressed her lips together and sighed. It was evident for her too, that she wanted it just as badly.
Why did she keep saying such stupid things? She really needed to say anything at all anymore, she only got herself into predicaments and ruined things for herself. Silence was not always a good thing. He probably didn’t want to answer it. Maybe he was thinking of really nice ways to change the subject or let her down easy. Who knows. He opened his mouth and Xio prepared herself to be crushed or something equally as bad but she ended up blinking in surprise instead.
“What are you afraid of, Xio?”
Good question? What was she afraid? Others? Or herself? Honestly and truly, it was herself. It was the fear or letting someone get to close, the fear of falling for someone and them not falling back. The fear of wanting someone in a way she shouldn’t and having her hopes crushed. How could she love someone if they never gave her a real chance? How could be with someone when she was the danger they were trying to avoid? Xio licked her lips. A million different answers were jumbled in her head and there was no easy way to answer him. There was no simple explanation. She blinked a few time and then she took a deep breath and tried to calm the nerves that were shooting through her.
What did he want from her? Why couldn’t he just ignore her like everyone else. Damn him for caring! Damn him for being as amazing as he was! She couldn’t be the girl he thought she was. She couldn’t.
Xio met his gaze, absolutely petrified of what she might say. “Everything,” she whispered, the fear tearing at her insides. It prickled its way to her defense and left her struggling to hold back tears. “I’m afraid of everything.”

Evan laughed at her comments, her blushing. Obviously, she caught his brief sexual thought. Unintentionally sexual shouldn’t count against him. He rolled his eyes, choosing not to comment on the subject at all. It was best just to let it go. He held his arms up, palms splayed in the air; the gesture that basically said ‘cool the fuck down there, hun.’ “Don’t bite me,” he said with a smirk, “I don’t want rabies.” He laughed squeezing her hand tightly. “Don’t worry,” he said with a wide grin, “I’d save you!” He gave her a sincere look, letting her know he meant it. Then the joke. “Well, I’d try, anyways,” he said. “But if you died before I got there, then it’s the thought that counts, right?”
He laughed, blushing slightly as she grabbed for his hands again. He couldn’t help but blush, but these little actions just got to him a tad too much. “I doubt that hands can be perfect,” he said with a laugh, looking down at his hand tangled with hers. ‘Well, except for when they’re intertwined with yours.’ He smiled gently as her thumb grazed over the top of his skin, sending a small shiver down his spine. He looked at her with a small smile ghosting his lips. “I haven’t a choice now, have I?” he said with a small laugh.
Even though there was a look of want in her eyes as she pulled away, Evan couldn’t douse the overwhelming hurt in the pit of his stomach. What was so hard about it? Just a few more inches… That’s all that she needed. All he needed. But the fact she dangled it before his face for a second before taking it back, it hurt. He couldn’t help it. In the pit of his stomach, he felt a pang of sadness mix with the disappointment.
“I’m afraid of everything.”
He heard the slight waver of tears in her voice and he automatically squeezed her hand tightly. Evan wanted to make it all better. But, truth be told, he didn’t know how. Actually, he didn’t know how to answer at all, honestly. If she were so afraid of everything, why was she putting herself on the line before him like she was? He gently, hesitantly placed a hand upon her cheek, hoping she wouldn’t push him away for crossing any boundaries he hadn’t seen. He slowly caressed her flesh with his thumb in a comforting fashion, gazing into her eyes.
“You shouldn’t be,” he said softly, slowly leaning forward like she had previously. He stayed a few inches away from her face - her lips – as if testing her. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable, but he needed to be this close to her like they were mere moments ago. He stared into her eyes for a brief moment before his eyes flickered down to her lips. “Would you... hate me,” he whispered softly, daring to close the gap between them, “If I did it anyways?” Hopefully she understood what he meant. But then again, he couldn’t see how she wouldn’t.

Eh, how could she not feel stupid right now. They had both trapped themselves in an obviously embarrassing moment. All she could do was let it go and hope that he didn’t think about it too much. Her laugh was light and happy and he raised his arms. Everything that he did was cute to her. “Ugh!” She dropped her jaw as if the insult had hurt and pouted. “I do not have rabies! I got my shot last year!” His hand was tight around hers, but gentle. The warmth from it made her smile more than his jokes and that was saying something because he was pretty funny. “Evan!” She pushed him, not too hard and laughed. “I guess…I mean if you really, really tried to save me and it was just too late…” Xio giggled and shook her head. “if you saved me in time, though, there would be a prize at the end, so lets try and keep me alive.”
“You’re wrong,” She quipped, squeezing his hands. She relished the color of his cheeks. She loved the fact that she could do that him. She’s never made anyone else blush in her life. It gave her a small boost of confidence that she really needed. It was really hard for her to see much good in herself. “Nope,” she shook her head and grinned then tugged on his hands gently as if to say ‘mine!’ “Not at all.” He didn’t. He was hers, she had decided. Of course, she wasn’t going to tell him that, but she hoped he figured it out soon enough.
Maybe it wasn’t that hard for him, but it was one of the most difficult things in the world for Xio to stay where she was. She wanted to be closer, she needed to feel the brush of his lips against hers but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. The thought of being that close to him scared her; it made her hands shake a little. She was glad he was still holding onto them. She hadn’t meant to tease him like that, it had been an innocent mistake but now that she looked back at it, she could have easily fixed that just gone through with it. The hurt was evident in his eyes and she hated that it was her fault it was there. The sight made her stomach grow hot in disappointment.
The tears were burning behind eyes and she was doing everything in power not to cry. That would be so stupid. She was not going to let a simple question break her into tears. She was not weak and dramatic. She had accepted this a long time ago so she needed to suck it up and not let it get her. Sure, all that sounded great. She told herself this but inside she couldn’t force herself to comply. The only thing wanted to do was cry and for some reason, that made her feel stupid. His hand against her cheek was soft. She looked up to catch his gaze and fought the tears back, desperate to not cry because being this close to wasn’t enough. It was either closer or not close at all, but she couldn’t take it.
The rhythm of her heart beats sped up and hammered against her chest. Could he hear that? She was pretty sure everyone could. He shouldn’t be that close to her, it wasn’t fair. Any closer and she would either lose control or she would stop breathing. Her breaths were shallow as it was and she could feel the faint warmth of his breath on her lips as he spoke so quietly. Hate him? Oh, no, that wasn’t a possibility. Hate herself? More than likely. No, her head was screaming. Do it! Please, kiss me! He was so close…it made it hard for her to think straight.
“Uhm,” Xio mumbled the words before glancing up at him. “Evan--I--” She couldn’t. She just couldn’t bring herself to hurt him. He didn’t deserve it. She couldn’t break his heart. It would feel like she was, but in the end, it was what was best. Xio bit her lips and turned her cheek just a little to avoid having to look at him.
His hand was still in hers, and she clutched it tightly, ashamed that even now when someone was showing her the affection and care she had always wanted she was pushing him away. She could feel the hurt coming off him in waves. That was the last thing she wanted to do. She just wanted him to be happy but she was so afraid to break is heart in the end. Xio swallowed the pain in her throat and met his eyes again. “Evan…” She repeated his name, her voice coming out choked. The rest of whatever she had planned to say faded away and she pulled him close, her lips finding his and pressing hard.

Evan laughed at her comments. He couldn’t help it. With everything she did, he couldn’t help but blush, smile or laugh. Or all of the above. He smiled widely, unable to stop himself. He shook his head slightly, as if signaling the conversation was over. He squeezed Xio’s hand again gently, pairing it with that dumb lopsided grin he couldn’t help at times. This was one of those times. Evan felt himself release a contented sigh. To him, this was perfect. Hands intertwined, jokes and smiles being exchanged. He wouldn’t have it any other way. He wouldn’t want to be with anyone else even if his life depended on it. He liked being with someone he liked or was even falling for. Hell, he’d even admit he’s beginning to fall even farther.
“Evan--I--”
He felt his heart sink into the pit of his stomach. He knew he had crossed the line. He knew he had gone too far. Mentally, he kicked himself. Why did he have to be so persistent? Why couldn’t he just have left it alone? He wanted to go back in time and make sure it hadn’t happened. It hurt him that much to make her so uncomfortable. But when she turned her cheek, he felt his heart crack a little bit. A frown creased his lips as he felt that pang of sadness and disappointment return, only burying itself deeper.
When Xio had clutched his hand tightly, he instinctively clung to it just as tightly. He didn’t trust his voice, so he didn’t speak. He squeezed her hand again, as if to say that it was alright, he hadn’t meant to push her too far. He wanted to just make it better. But if this was the way, he hadn’t an issue with it. Not one bit.
“Evan…”
He frowned deeper at the sound of her voice coming out in two choked syllables. He almost shook his head to say it was alright and that she didn’t need to say a thing. Almost. But that was before he felt her pulling him the distance neither one of them dared to cross before. Then he felt Xio’s lips against his and he was one-hundred percent sure his heart stopped. From somewhere deep within his throat, he released a small appreciated noise, as if to confirm this was alright. This was definitely alright.
With his hand still on her cheek, he slide it slowly to fit it behind her neck, pulling her even closer as he pressed his lips harder against hers. Evan needed to be as close as he could get to her without going too far. He’s pretty sure he’d take back any thought he had earlier about them holding hands being the most perfect thing in the world. Oh no. This was most definitely the most perfect thing in the world, bar none.

The taste of your lips is enough to keep me pressing
It was better that the conversation was over. Then she didn’t have to worry about getting those images, no matter how pretty, in her head. But it wasn’t as bad as she had always imagined. He didn’t laugh at her for the dorky things she said or silly jokes she made. Yeah, he laughed, but not at her. It was nice to know that there someone who enjoyed being around her. Someone who wanted to hold her hand, no matter how dangerous it was. Evan was the only person she had ever met willing to take that risk and that alone made her feel better than she had ever felt about herself. There was lopsided grin again. How did someone that beautiful want to be with someone as plain as her? It boggled her mind but hey, she wasn’t complaining. She wouldn’t have it any other way. Dare she say she falling for him? She didn’t know what it felt like to ‘fall’ for someone but whatever this was, she liked it.
Damn. Even when she was trying to protect the other person she was still hurting them. She was never going to win, was she? Why couldn’t she get that through her think skull? Happiness and her did not mix. It if was mean to happen then it would have happened and she just needed to accept that this, hurting people, injuring them, this was what she did. There was reasons she wore gloves and stayed away from everyone and she needed to keep those reasons in mind.
She could see him, from the corner of her eye even when she looked away. She didn’t like that it was her fault he looked this way. Out of all people she had ever seen hurt and sad, Evan’s expression was the worst. It made her heart crack down the middle and fall into her stomach. Her chest felt like it wasn’t getting any oxygen at all and if she blinked, she would surely cry. It was so stupid that the only thing holding her back the fear to let someone get to close. Maybe it wasn’t even the fear of hurting him, maybe what she truly feared was him hurting her. how could she give him her heart when there was a possibility that he would hand it back in pieces? At least he hadn’t let go of her hand. He was the only thing still holding her together. She inhaled a shaky breath.
She was at a loss when it came to knowing if she was doing this right. She had never kissed anyone. Seriously. How sad, eighteen and this was her first kiss. But what a kiss it was. It was absolutely indescribable. She almost pulled away to apologize for doing so, but well, that would have been stupid. Only Xio would apologize for kissing someone who had wanted to kiss her first. She made no sense that way. However, none of this was processing in her mind for once when her lips met Evan’s. Every thought she had whirled away into nothing. There was a possibility that her heart stopped beating. Whatever sound Evan had made, she liked it.
Xio leaned into Evan, glad he was taking charge, because god knew she wasn’t too shy too do anything else. His hand on the back of her neck gave her a rush. It sent chills up her spine and she let out a small intangible noise and he pressed his lips harder into hers.
She felt like she wasn’t getting enough oxygen and he was the only one she could it from. Instincts told her to pull him closer; as close as possible and open her mouth because she couldn’t get enough of the taste of his lips. So she did just that. Whatever worries and fears had held her down before this no longer existed. She had lied. Holding his hands hadn’t been perfect. This was.

and don’t be afraid to love for the way he makes you feel
He was fine as this. Evan was completely fine with not talking. Well, that is, if instead of talking they were doing this. It wasn’t like this was Evan’s first kiss – oh no. But he was pretty sure he had never experienced a kiss like this. It was more than perfect. It was… He couldn’t even think straight, it was that magnificent. And the small noise she had let out from within made his skin tingle pleasantly. He felt her lean into him more and he instinctively untangled his hand from hers and placed it on her shoulder. Evan pulled away from her for a brief second, breathing in deeply before exhaling shakily. He looked into her eyes, his thumb grazing over her cheek again. He smiled gently before he realized the awkward position they were in. Sitting next to one another wasn’t exactly the best way to be close. Not in the way they needed right now. “Would you mind if…?” he asked quietly, repositioning himself so he was leaning into her, pushing her down onto the grass. Evan carefully placed himself over her, one hand next to her head, the other caressing her cheek for a brief moment before placing it on her shoulder. He slowly dipped his head down to catch her lips with his. Evan didn’t wait too long, didn’t press his lips too hard against hers before he hesitantly took a chance. A huge chance. Timidly, he opened his mouth a tad, licking his lip while simultaneously swiping it across her bottom lip. If he hadn’t known any better, he was pretty sure he could feel his heart skipping beats. Slowly, he prodded her bottom lip with his tongue, hoping she’d get the message. In the back of his mind, his brain was screaming, ‘ Please don’t push me again now.’ [/blockquote]

The flavor of your lips is enough to keep me here
This was definitely new to Xio, but let me tell you, she didn’t mind it one bit. Hell, she was catching on mighty quick for a girl who hadn’t made human contact in nine years. Her lips were all over his; her breaths were coming out in little gasps and she was loving every second of it. People may have talked about good kissing, but she was in on it. Everywhere his hands touched it left a warm trail of chills that took over her. She was practically leaning all the way onto him. Well, as far as she could sitting this way.
He pulled away from her and she sat back, her head spinning from lack of oxygen and too much thrill. She had to concentrate on her breathing otherwise she would forget how. Her eyes met with his and just his fingers touching her skin made her heart speed up again. The chills came back. How on earth did he do that? She couldn’t even think straight and here was making it hard for her breath as well. He was going to be the death of her. Xio blinked, still a bit shy at this whole situation and realized he was moving.
“Would you mind if…?”
She gulped and licked her lips. Whoa, this was….something else. Xio let herself be repositioned and stared up at Evan who was now leaning over her looking better and better. This was the last position you would ever imagine Xio being in; lying under a guy, outside. It was the polar oppsite of her what she would ever do. Yet, it was her who had a hand over Evan’s face, urging him to get closer and meet his lips with hers. She never felt the kind of need to be this close to someone. Like she just couldn’t get close enough. Her dark eyes gazed up at Evan’s and she ran a pale hand through his mass of chestnut hair, her hand resting at the back of his neck.
Her back came off the cold ground enough to brush lips with his, her eyes drifting shut; savoring his taste. A shiver ran down her entire body, a sensation of adrenaline shooting through her stomach and up into her chest as his tongue swept across hers. She wasn’t really sure what to do but to go with her instincts. Slowly and unsurely, her own mouth opened and she licked the bottom of his lip, her body shaking. So many words and feelings were flying through mind and all she wanted to was pull Evan closer. Xio sucked the boy’s kiss and parted her own lips, assuming that was what he wanted. And at this point, what Evan wanted, he was going to get.

Evan’s heart nearly stopped completely when her hand ran through his hair. It sent a million shivers down his spine that he just couldn’t stop. Not like he was interested in stopping them, but whatever. He couldn’t help himself. A small, contented sigh escaped his lips, as if to coax her to continue. He took in a shaky breath to even out his brain and thinking patterns, for everything was turning to a muddled mess and his body was going into over drive. He let his eyes drift shut, allowing his body to resort to pure feeling. He liked it this way.
With his hand on her shoulder, he felt her body shaking subtly through the fabric of his jacket. That damned jacket. The piece of fabric slipped from his mind as he felt Xio’s tongue against his bottom lip. It took all of his will power not to release the trapped noise deep in his throat. Sadly, it hadn’t work too well. The sound came out as more of a inward sigh/groan. Not what he was aiming for. He felt his cheeks grow warm from embarrassment, but he wasn’t about to stop this to apologize.
Slowly, he let his tongue dip into her mouth, cautiously exploring. Evan let his hand wander up her shoulder, carefully dipping below the fabric of his jacket. He craved the feeling of her skin beneath his fingertips. He needed it. He felt the warmth of her skin for a brief moment before his fingers settled on her shirt. For a moment, his fingers trailed over the fabric, as if to test her boundaries before he stopped, an overwhelming sense of sadness and loneliness washing over him. He slowed in his movements for a moment before he stopped completely, pulling away from her slightly as he began to see scenes roll through his mind.
Oh God. Not now.
It was as if watching a movie. Xio’s life as a movie. He clutched the pieces of her shirt his hand had come in contact with, closing his eyes tighter as he felt all of Xio’s emotions run through his every vein. He attempted to control the feeling, his power. He shut his eyes tightly, trying terribly hard to make it stop. Suddenly he let go of the fabric, breathing heavily. He opened his eyes slowly, collapsing beside her. His eyes were glossy with unspilt tears as he stared at her blankly. He took in a deep breath to steady himself, his body shaking. Evan shook his head, unable to clear the images from his mind. Unable to speak. Unable to breathe.
“Xio…”

Was she doing this right? She didn’t know for sure, but he seemed to enjoy it. There wasn’t much to do but trust herself (and that was not easy) and just let whatever happened happen. Those little sound he kept making were turning her on. Since when did guys make those kinds of sounds for her? Oh well. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was that Evan was liking whatever she was doing and she had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
Oh, god! She sighed into his laps at the sound of his groan. He needs to not do that, he’s going to kill me! With all his sounds and the way his body was pressed up against hers, she couldn’t think straight let alone doing anything but groan back. She could feel the heat from his body radiating to hers. It felt amazing to have him this close to her. Scary, but good. She didn’t know what the hell she was doing but she knew he did, and he was good at it. He could have said ‘jump’ and he had her so bad she would have asked ‘how high?’ By now, Xio Beckett was so far gone there was no use in trying to speak, only move.
It was safe to say that Xio didn’t have a clue as what to do next. She had never kissed a guy before Evan so kissing him this way was a little strange at first. Sure, there was T.V and books and the internet. She wasn’t stupid. But she had never experienced this first hand, there’s a big difference. Her lips moved with rhythm with Evan’s and she cautiously let her tongue dip into his mouth, afraid of doing it wrong. Then his hands were under the jacket, traveling along her skin; leaving a blazing trail wherever they passed. It made her breaths come out in hot shaky gasps and another moan pass her lips and before she knew it, he was pulling away from her, leaving her confused and speechless. Lost was a good word to explain how she felt. Evan was clutching her shirt and she had a feeling he wasn’t trying to take it off. His eyes were shut tightly, more than they should have to be enjoying this and she leaned back and blinked. Had she done something wrong? Xio’s eyebrows pulled together a little and she stared at Evan, her heart pounding in fear. What had she done? Had she hurt him? Dear, God. She had hurt him! Xio pressed her lips together in terror and stared at him, eyes wide. Her hand shot out to grab him and he came off of her and ended up on the ground next to her. Why was he breathing so hard?! She drew in a gasp of and tried to stay calm in spite of whatever was happening. Never since she had know him had she seen tears in his eyes. Had she hurt him that bad? If she hadn’t been completely focused on him for fear of his death she wouldn’t have never heard him speak. “Evan!” She sat up straight and leaned over to touch him but drew away. That was what had got him there in the first place. “I’m sorry!”
