The lake. A big body of water. All frozen. It was a sort of a saddening site for Jordan. And yet, at the same time, it was soothing. She liked the cold, liked the water. It was because of her power. She didn't know if it held true for all, and it probably didn't. She liked water and snow, which were the two things she wielded. Others that wielded an element might not like that element so much, but she hadn't met any so far. But the fact she wielded water and snow struck her as odd. Not the power itself, but the fact that she couldn't control ice as well. Ice was generally closer to water than snow, but she couldn't control ice. Maybe make it twitch slightly, but nothing ever came from those attempts. That power wasn't in her ability, however odd it was. The water in it wanted to obey her, but it never would. Maybe it thought itself a different element. Maybe it was the ice here. She didn't know, and probably never would.
But still, the lake comforted her. Maybe it was the fact that usually, there was snow around her. Or maybe even the fact that below the ice, there was water, and it was calling to her, maybe. Or even both. She didn't know why the lake comforted her in the way the snow and water did. It was an odd thing, really. Snow was a comfort to her, but she didn't know specifically why. Water was the same way. It was something she loved, and comforted her in an odd way. The comfort was similar to that which a favorite blanket or pillow gave. That you had something quite familar. But it was with something that had no sentimental value at all. Just something that was always there. It was odd, indeed.
Jordan was walking to the lake...again. She was usually either in the courtyard or out by the lake. It was just something she liked to do. It was sort of a routine, but there was never a schedule to go to those places. She just went there whenever she felt like it. Never one a schedule or any such thing. It was unheard of. As she approached the lake, she noticed that the lake had thinner ice than usual. Actually, the whole outside was slightly warmer than usual. Not extremely no, not enough to completely melt anything at all, but warm enough for a bit of meltage. There was a bit of water atop the thinner ice, just enough for her to be able to play with it a bit.
Jordan walked over to a tree that was near the lake edge. She placed her bag on a cut off branch, so it would not be covered in snow, nor wet with the slight melting of the snow. Really, Jordan was surprised about the warmness. Well, maybe warm wasn't the word. It was still cool, but not the frigid cold that always was atop the mountain, making it seem warmer than usual. And the snow and ice knew it too, apparently. She sat down right at the lake edge. She called up the water to her, and made it swirl around between her hands. She stared intentely at the water as she played with it. She controlled it, moving it in elaborate patterns for a while. But then, a loud sound behind her, made her twirl around, surprised. However, this also caused the water to rocket towards the figure behind her, the source of the noise. [/blockquote]

The lake. A gaint depth of scariness. Except it was like an ice cub now. And while it might have been a saddening thought for Jordan, it was a comforting thought for Monster. And also, while Jordan loved water and snow, Monster DETESTED water, and she wasn't that great with snow either. I mean, it was fine and all, and she did like her snowball fights and snowmans once in a while, but spending days and days out playing in it was not the activity she would choose.
So, you ask, why was Monster walking towards the lake then? Well, first off, she was walking backwards. And she didn't know she was walking to the lake. Today, Monster had gotten so bored she decided to walk around campus backwards. And not knowing where she was going, she ended up at the lake with plenty of bruises from all the things she ran into.
Today, the girl wore this weird bunny jacket, hood up, some plain jeans, and these really, REALLY scary monster boots. And hopefully, Monster looked nothing like her monster shoes. There was a difference, I say! A difference! Anyways. Whatever she wore didn't really matter right now. All she knew that it was cold, and Monster had no clue where she was going. That is, until she smacked into a tree, squealing. The girl turned around, walked a few steps in confusion, looked at the lake, screamed, got slapped in the face with water, and then started screaming bloody murder.
And I mean, toe-curling, blood-running murder. The water underneth the lake began to bubble, swish this way and that, and actually became so powerful that it cracked through the ice, leaking out of a small creavices, and then bursting open into a small gusher. It died down as Monster's screaming died down, leaving the girl frightened and in a small ball on the ground.
"W-Wa-Waaaaater." She whispered, peeking out from her bunny hood which she had pulled fully over her face.

If there was one thing that she hadn't been expecting while at the lake, it was a blood-curling scream. Who the heck would scream at a lake? Well, unless they were being drowned in it or something like that. But other than that, nobody would scream. Not like that, anyways. It was just a bit of water, it wasn't like the world was coming to an end. Apparently, though, it was. Jordan had been surprised at the thunk of somebody running into a tree behind her, and had caused her to be distracted from playing with the water, having turned her gaze from it, to the girl behind her, and caused the water to rocket towards the girl. But she didn't have to scream like that.
At the first note of the high pitched scream, Jordan covered her ears, and curled into a ball, wishing for it to stop. The scream was painful, it hurt. Great. A sonic scream person? That would be a useful power, really. Anyways, the scream hurt her ears. She looked up as a crack resounded, to see a deep crack, a hole really, in the lake, and water bubbled from it. Finally, though, the scream stopped. She stared, dumbfounded at the lake, before turning back towards the girl that had caused all of this. She was small, and dressed oddly. Not like Jordan was the one to talk. She had on too much makeup, including big spots of blush and a TON of eyeshadow and stuff. But on her, it was actually kind of cute. A blue tank top was over a black long sleeve, accompanied by a black skirt and skinny jeans. And boots. Just boots. Crazy ones, snow ones, whatever you called them. But ones good for stomping out in the snow.
Jordan stared at the girl as she cowered under her hoodie. She couldn't comprehend what the problem was. Then, the girl uttered something in a shaky, fearful tone. Water? Great, this chick was hydrophobic. Just great. And a bit eccentric, too, seemingly. But there wasn't anything wrong with that. Chewing her bottom lip in nervousness, she approached the girl. She stood over her, looking down. "Hey, you okay? Didn't mean ta hit ya with the water...." It was the truth, why would Jordan lie? But maybe, in some stroke of craziness, the girl wouldn't believe her. It happened often. Jordan didn't lie. Not much, anyways. Not unless it was for her benefit. But others expected her to lie often, so even when she told the truth, they sometimes thought she was lying. Geez...people were very crazy, indeed. [/blockquote]
