Monster hated water. More then anything in the world. Now, when I say hated, I don't mean disliked either. I mean hated. Hated. It was the one thing that she could not ever take the presence of. The deep, watery ways of water... Brrrr. It could make her shudder just by thinking about it, and seeing large quantites of it made her mind spazz, and her brain melt.

But what about solid water?

She had never approuched the lake. Ever ever ever. Never. If she had to go to a class, or somewhere that meant crossing by the lake, she went around the long way, for she ALWAYS found another way to go by without seeing it's not-so-shallow depths. Always. But she had heard people say that it was frozen most of the time. Frozen.

Like ice cubes?

She had tried to imagine the lake as one big ice cube, but the image just didn't sit in her mind. It took her 3 years, but she was finally facing her fears. She was going to see the lake, in all of it's frozen glory. Besides. You can't drown in ice cubes, right? Of course, that made her no less scared of it. And believe me when I say, if it took her 3 years to get the courage to see a frozen lake, then it will take her years and years to see the lake, well.. watery.

But for this, she had to prepare for it properly. The girl splattered on many, MANY sweaters and put on her extra warm pants. Over her inner guard, she put on her rain suit. And, just for extra protection, she wore a duck floaty. She had thought about putting her long tangly brown hair into a ponytail, but then decided that it would be too troublesome, and if she drowned, someone was bound to see her hair, right? Now, you might think that a girl standing with a rubber duck floaty around her waist, and holding an umbrella and wearing a rain suit when it was clearly not raining, and the lake was frozen was strange. Well, my dears, you are completely and utterly right. But of course, this whole school was strange, too. Monster was just stranger then most.

And in this silly get-up, Monster marched forward to face her fear. She stopped short of the lake, keeping her VERY long distance. Monster swallowed, looking at the frozen surface of the lake. It did not seem liquidy, but to her, it still seemed dangerous. And so, Monster stood there for 6 good minutes, trying to decide whether to chicken out, or to face her fears once and for all. She patted her duck's head, swallowed the rock in her throat, and continued on forth towards her doom, stepping slower then needed.

[/i]? Okay, well, he could at least see where the choude of school name had come from. But he was shivering even in his "warm" jacket that covered a long-sleeved red shirt, his black skinny jeans didn't keep any warmth in either. If he could just walk around in his wolf form...it would be so much warmer than this "human" form. Then he'd at least have a thick pelt of gray and white fur covering him. Sammii chewed lightly at his bottom lip. If he was so cold, why had did he even bother to stay out here? Good question...like most questions he asked to himself (which was probably an unhealthy amount, by the way) he had no idea what the answer was. No wonder he was always so open to Ezra's constant teasing. He was a clueless furball. Aw, poor Sammii.

His feet came slowly to a halt as he passed the lake. However intent he'd been on continuing his walk and keeping his body temperature up, he couldn't help it at the scene by the lake. Who in the world wat that girl? And why was she standing by the lake with a frickin' ducky-floaty-thingy on her? As he continued to watch, he notced everything one would normally use in case of rain;an ummbrella, rain jacket... He glanced to the sky. It wasn't going to rain...was it? Slowly, Sammii moved towards the girl, almost cautionary. But his curiosity was getting the best of him, like any innocent little puppy's would (Sammii doesn't hit you as an innocent puppy? Come on now...). When he was close behind the girl he spoke. "E-er...'scuse me? Are you okay?" Oh fuck...he hadn't meant it to come out as though he was questioning her sanity. "I-I m-mean...what are you d-doing?" Sammii quickly changed his words around. He felt like an idiot, and even the extreme cold couldn't keep the heat from rising in his cheeks.[/color][/ul][/size]

She had been so self absorbed in coming closer to her obstacle that she had not even noticed when someone came behind her. But of course, her ears at least picked up the sound of someone's voice. Quickly, she whipped around, quickly putting up her hands in a karate chop style, resulting in the drop of the umbrella and duck floaty. And for the record, Monster knew about as much karate as that tree that stood just a bit distance from her. But she blinked when her eyes focused on a boy, who looked rather cold in his get-up.

As he spoke, she stared at the boy, and then slowly picked up her umbrella, and brought the ducky back to her waist, holding it in place with one hand, never letting her ice blue eyes off of him. Only after she recovered all her items did she start to actually speak.

"I-I'ms facingingers my fear." Monster stuttered out slowly. Her speech pattern was clear. I mean, after all, you didn't hear many 16 year olds ad 'seses' after their words now, do you? She inspected the boy once more, and then licked her lips, a habit she did when nervous, and fidgeted with the handle of the umbrella. Monster took a glance at her shoes, the happy eyeballs on them staring blankly at the boy's own shoes. Finally, Monster looked up, gave off a small smile, and said;

"Wannnaeses help?"

[/i] Sammii fianlly realized.

"Oh, u-uh sure. I'd be h-happy to help," Sammii replied to her question. He wondered why he was stuttering so badly right now. Normally he wasn't even so shy around people he stuttered. Then he realized the cold was making his teeth rattle slightly whenever he made an attempt to speak any sort of words. Sammii saw the girl smile slightly and returned a small one of his own. "I'm S-S-Sammii, by the way," he introduced. He'd hold out a hand to shake hers, but his long arms were too busy being wrapped around his waist to try and keep him warmer.[/color][/ul][/size]

Monster watched as the boy shook and shivered, and then answered her question. Her smile widened, and her bright blue eyes began to desolve of the defensive look that were usually held in them. This boy did not seem like he would cause any trouble. Hopefully.

"My nameseses is Monster. Coolios to meet you, Sammii. Yous has a pretty name."

After a second, the girl spoke again, seeing as he was shivering half to death. "Kaykayskays. We shoulds gets thiseses over with before Sammii's noseses falls off. That wouldeses be bad. All you hastases do is holds onto my parasolses when I steps onto 'teh lake. Sos if I falls in and startseses drowning, you cans pull me backseses out. Kayslers?" She smiled, and then after a few thoughtful seconds once more, added, "Andes, then I canseses take Sammii to getsesesers a thank-yew hot coco or coffeliciousers. Kays?"

Without waiting for another response, Monster took a deep breath, and began to inch towards the lake once more. The closer she got, the more fear started to show in her eyes. With small steps, she began to close the distance between the lake and herself. But four feet away from the lake, and fright practicly spilling out of her senses, she stopped. The girl fidgeted, shook, shuddered, and started to actually breath heavily.

But with a good bonk on the head which came from her own umbrella (or parasol, as she called it) brought her back to reality. Suddenly, Monster turned towards Sammii, a weird kind of seriousness that did not belong in her eyes. "IFSES I FALL INS, PULLESES ME IN, K-K-K-KAYS?" She shouted, for apperant no reasons, and turned back towards the lake, taking a shaky step forward again.

[/b]" Sammii said, a small smile lit his features again. 'Yous has a pretty name.' That made a real smile come to Sammii's face. He didn't know if you'd really call a guy's name pretty, exactly, but it was cute the way Monster talked, so he couldn't help but smile. "Thank you. Your name is really cool too," Sammii replied.

Sammii laughed as Monster made a comment about how cold he was. That his nose was going to fall off. That would definitely be bad. Especially when he went into his wolf form...he seemed to rely on his nose more when he was a wolf. Sammii listened as Monster explained to him what he should do to help her out. "Okay, c-can do," Sammii replied. Hot chocolate?! Oh yes, he could really go for some hot chocolate right now... Coffee was okay, but kind of icky, being the five year old Sammii was. "We've got ourselves a pl-plan," Sammii said with another soft chuckle.

As Monster inched closer, Sammii moved slightly closer, though still standing behind her. He could see she was shaking and she seemed really scared. It made him feel kind of bad for her, seeing how terrified she was of the water. He couldn't imagine being scared of water. He rather liked it. Besides, wouldn't it suck to be able to wield water and then be scared of it? He thought it would. Sammii looked up at Monster as he heard he start shouting, she was right by the edge of the lake. "Okay. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine," Sammii answered, tryign to be encouraging. He wasn't sure exactly what do to, he had never exactly tried to help someone conquer their fears before.[/ul][/color][/size]

She took two steps more towards the lake, and that was enough for her. The girl dropped her parasol, and let out an ear-splitting scream, not bothering to even hold onto her duck anymore. She ran the opposite way, and got a little farther from the lake before the duck finally fell fully down from her waist, and she tripped over it, doing a perfect headplant onto the ground.

Oh, I would say, that was about a 8.9 on the goof scale, and about -000000000000000000000000000001 on the grace scale.


This, of course, ended her wild screaming, and instead, Monster lay on the ground, motionless. After a second, she gathered her scenes, and sat up, looking at the distance between her and the lake was at least somewhat efficiant enough. For now. Monster sighed, and took off her hat, pouting lightly, and looked back at Sammii.

"I didn'tseses conquer it.." The 16 year old gave a shy, sad little smile, but then brightened herself with the comment, "Oh wellseses, water's scary anyways." Monster combed through her hair with a hand, letting her fingers feel the tangles for a second, but then decided that she should say something.

"Ahhses, do you stills wants that hot coco?"

[/i] he thought as she suddenly let out an ear-piercing scream and ran back. He brought his hands over his ears to try and block out the sound. He'd never been more glad he wasn't a Vampire--he couldn't imagine how that scream would sound to them with their stupid super-hearing. He turned and followed her movements with his big blue eyes. When she fell, Sammii ran over until he was standing next to her, squatting down a bit.

"Are you alright?" he asked, concerned. She'd made a very headplant in the ground there. It looked like it must've hurt. He heard her say that she hadn't conquered her fears and gave a small smile. "Its okay. I'm sure you'll get it eventually," Sammii said. He heardd Monster ask if he still wanted that hot chocolate and his smile grew bigger. "Sounds excellent," he replied, standign up straight again. He held out his hand to help her up if she wanted it.[/color][/ul][/size]
