It was true that she had some trouble getting up here. After all, the rooftops required a small climb to get up onto them, but Monster was not about to give up. And yes, I said Monster. And no, I'm not joking or being a meany brat. Her name was Monster. Or, as far as anyone knew. Of course, she had a real name, but only special people were allowed to call her that. So far, she had met no special people.
By the time that the werewolf had stumbled her way onto the roof, she swore she had at least 4 bruises, and and her cheek was bleeding. Monster rubbed off the blood once, but then when it came back out the second time, she just didn't bother with it. After all, she didn't want to get her gloves dirty.
It was a cold night. The wind rushed, sending her tangly curls flying. Her outfit tonight was the choice of a not-so-fashionable winter hat, colorful gloves, matching scarf, warm winter jacket, simple jeans, and stylish winter boots, which were the only thing that was actually STYLISH about her outfit, if you say. Monster breathed into the scarf which was wrapped warmly around her mouth, and stuffed her hands into her coat pockets, even though she already was wearing gloves.
She liked this night. In fact, Monster loved the cold. She thrived on it. So being in the mountains was something so totally great for her, pretty much. And the rooftop provided a very good place to sort out her thoughts. But she didn't really need any thoughts sorted out. She just wanted some peace and quiet. Monster breathed, watching as her breath turned into a gas in front of her eyes. Oh, it was indeed a very nice night.
Monster shuffled her feet, and swallowed. It was quiet, and the only sound that rushed past her ears was the wind, and the sound of branching swaying. Her baby blue eyes took in the scenery from the roof, and she found that it was some of the most beautifullest thing she had ever seen. "I can sees everythings from here.." She whispered to herself. "I bets people woulds be as tiny as antisieses." And to this, she gave a small smile. This was a wonderful night.

Tap, tap, tap.
Her shoes hit the pavement with a vengeance as she ran down the concrete steps of Winterthorne academy and past the water fountain. Past everything, until she was running on the far side of the castle. Her eyes were glassy; making it hard to see anything ahead, but she didn’t stop, she couldn’t. She wanted to escape. She wanted to get away from everything. There were so many thoughts and memory tumbling around in her, that it made her want to throw up. All of kinds of images, bombarded her. Her mother lying there, cold, covered in blood; a small trickle of it slipping from the corner of her mouth. A frozen hand lying against her own arm as if reaching towards her through the wreckage. Her father, falling to both knees to mourn the loss of his love, the only person he would love again. Another flash of her father--this one was different. This time he towered over her like a monster. Not one of those ’Boo! I got you!’ kind of monsters, the real ones. Where their eyes flashed and their hands raised high only to come back down against your skin. Those monsters. Real monster. Flash. This time he pushed her. Flash. This time he threw a screwdriver at her. Flash. This time his hands were around her throat. Flash. Flash. Flash. So many images and memories made her oxygen evaporate. Like he was there, squeezing it from her throat. Flash. Her father fell to his knees again. This time he did not mourn. But he did cry, Oh, he cried. And he screamed, yes, there was so much screaming. Flash. This memory was different. This memory made her insides knot in shame. It made her hands tremble at the memory of him. Of being with him. Yes, it was good. But it wasn’t love. It was never love. It was everything she was, but it just wasn’t love. She could recall every detail about him then. The way his hands touched her. The way his lips covered hers and quieted her. His body pressed against hers, light and warm. Her side was starting to ache now as she forced her feet to take her farther, just a little farther. As if she could outrun these images. As if she could possibly escape her memories, her past, herself.
Little drops of sweat were already running down her face over her nose and down the side of her cheeks toward her neck. They matted her bangs to her temple. The bitter wind was nipping at her face in the cruelest way. It was starting to sting, but she didn’t know what hurt more, her legs or her face. Her hands which were in tight fists were starting to weaken, to loosen as her oxygen level lessened. She just wanted the guilt to go away. She wanted someone to take her in their arms and let her cry. She wanted them to tell her it was okay, what she was doing. She needed love to. She wanted them to say, it’s not your fault. It was her time. He deserved it. You needed it. She wanted someone to say I love you. She slowed to an aching walk and panted, her breaths coming out in white puffs of air in front of her. It was so cold tonight and she didn’t have a jacket. She hadn’t exactly prepared that little run. Right now, his hands would have been perfect. His hands were always warm. Yet, his heart was not. He only wanted her skin.
“Fuck this!” her pale hands grasped the air in front of her and she glared into the darkness. She was so…angry. She turned her slim body to the stairs in front of her and took them, two by two, then three by three until she was practically leaping them to get to the top where she frantically clawed against the walls and its openings and made her way higher and higher, forgetting what her point, only knowing she needed to climb, and duck, and pull until finally she could no more. But she didn’t have to.
She was there, exactly where she knew it would lead to it and now that she up here she once again had no where to go. A sob escaped her chapped lips and the tears spilled from her eyes over cheeks. She hugged herself and fell down to her knees, just like her dad had so long ago and cried. It was all she could do.

There was a sobbing sound.
On this night, on this night that seemed so peaceful, why was there crying? Well, Monster guessed that people were crying all over the world, with so many people, but surely not at the Academy! I mean, wasn't everything great and dandy? Well, Monster had too much of a niave mind. You can't blame her for wanting a fairytale world. I think everyone wanted one somedays.
But what really surprised Monster was that the girl who was crying was none other then Dani. Dani James. Aka, Monster's life-line. You see, when Monster had heard this sniffled noise, she had gotten up to investigate. Imagine her surprise when she saw her best friend in tears, and exactly how much it ripped at her heart.
"Da-Dani?"
It was the only name she could never mess up with her weird speech pattern. All others could get sesess after their names at any time, but never Dani. Dani's name was always clear. The girl stumbled over, careful of the roof, and fell to her knees right beside Dani, wrapping her arms around the skinny frame that was her best friend.
"DA-DANNI! DANI! DON'TERS CRY, DANI! PLEWASE DUN CRY!" Monster sputtered, hugging tighter onto the sobbing female. Just the mere thought of Dani in tears was enough to put Monster into a total sobfest. "Dani, what's wong?!"
Finally, Monster let go, but continued to sit beside the girl, staring at her with deep, icey-lake, concerned eyes. Whatever happened to Dani, she was sure that the person who caused it was going to pay.

The girl slumped against the high ledge of the castle and wiped her face with the back of her sleeve. No matter how hard she tried the tears would not stop. She could wipe all she wanted, the tears were like a waterfall. Her chest heaved up and down and he willed to stop crying but she couldn’t. she just couldn’t. The images were imprinted in her mind so clearly. It was like they were stuck on repeat, and each time the volume got louder and louder until she could hear her father’s voice screaming at her, yelling at the top of her lungs. DanI ducked her head, cradling it in her arms and sobbed. There was no use in trying to stop crying because that was all she wanted to so.
She hadn’t expected anyone to be around. DanI’s head snapped up the sound of Monster’s voice. Her eyes widened. She hated for anyone to see her cry, especially monster. She never ever wanted her best friend, her sister practically to see her this way. Monster was her other half. It made her ashamed just for crying when she caught the look on Monster’s face. DanI bit her lip and inhaled sharply. “Hey Hana,” She sniffed and even through the tears still falling she smiled. She liked it best when Monster said her name. It was the only name Monster said perfectly and it made DanI feel special. She would have loved Monster even if she put a million S’s at the end of her name anyway.
DanI let her body sag against her best friend and wrapped her arms back around her. She wanted to answer but all she could do was shake her head. So she just sat there and cried. It was okay, she knew Monster would let her.
It was silent for a very long time. All that could be heard were the occasional soft rustle of the trees and the shudders coming from DanI. Eventually it stopped and all that were the remains of her tears. Dry and salty against her skin. “I just,” DanI hesitated. She hated putting her problems on other people. “I just wanna be loved, Hana.”
