She couldn't believe they had a mythology class. Wasn't there enough evidence that the creatures of myth are real? I mean, come on! There are werewolves walking around! Hello! She snorted as she looked up at the dragon on the roof. "Poor wing brother. This is not how you should be treated." althought it was not alive, she felt pity. He should be resting in peace, not hanging over a classroom so students can study it. Kjara was very protective when it came to her fellow People. Animals, mythological creatures, anything that was an animal was her family. And just like every family, there was the ones who got along, and the ones who didn't. She sneezed quietly as she looked around the class room. She was definately taking this class, to at least show that these creatures were real.
Would they believe her? Most likely not. No one believed her any more. Not that she lies, people just dont tend to believe her stories. No matter how much evidence she had to prove her stories, they never believed her. She shook her head, a small strand of hair falling into her eyes. Tucking it back in her tight bun, she fidgeted with the necklace that shown through her turtle neck sweater. It hung around her neck with three sapphire jewels. The light red sweater perfectly matched her dark skin color, and the tight black pants revelaed a well formed buttock that she was well famous for.
She felt real shy in these clothes. Never before had she had such clothes that were so tight. She was used to wearing loose breeches and tunics. But now she had sweaters, nice pants, nice shoes, and even a box of jewerly. I guess Euginea wanted me to at least feel as close to home as possible. but the truth was, this small town princess was never going to feel home in this place. Only with her animal friends would she at least be at peace. She turned towards the door, her blue and green eyes locked on the door as more hair fell into her eyes.

Its not that this class wasn't interesting--it had it's moments, but for the most part, Xio just didn't want to be here. She had absolutely nothing against anyone who wanted to stay here and be who they were, but she wasn't one of them. She didn't enjoy her 'abilities' and she didn't want to study them or have anyone study her and she really didn't want to be here studying other creatures--real or not.
The girl hugged her warm black hoodie tighter around herself and ducked her head and she slid down just a little in her seat. Her dark hair fell, like the curtain she was deperate for, in front of her face, masking her from her class mates. It hid her dark almond eyes and those dangerous full lips. No, they weren't hiding fangs. They were hiding nothing at all. The venom, the poison, whatever you wanted to call it, spread across more than just those lips, it echoed across her entire body. One touch from this girl and you would literally fall to your knees. It was what so many teachers here tried to tell her was her gift, but how something so destructive, so dispactching, be a gift?
Sucking the literal life out of someone does not equal abilities, or powers, it equals a hazard. Something that should be quaratined. Or at least that's how Xio saw it.
She wanted this stupid class to be over with already. Every second that she had to spend in close proximity with others put her at unease. It wasn't just that she was a danger, because she was well aware that many here could be just as haphazardous, it was that she was an outcast. The one place where she was supposed to feel comfortable felt no different than any other school. People still stared. No one talked to her. Most of the classes were boring. This class was okay. But it involved her having to be social or talkative or at least somewhat cooperative and those were subjects that she didn't excel in and that was just fine with her. She was counting the seconds until the class was over.
Things go by pretty smoothly when you keep to yourself. That is, until the professor calls on you to answer a question. Now Xio was sitting there, all eyes on her; cheeks fading into a red because she didn't feel like having to talk. Silence. The professor raised an expectant eyebrow. "The auki are mountain spirits from Peru and the Andes Mountains region,"She sighed. They have the ability to heal the sick, and local shamans called brujos have the ability to channel their power through themselves. Auki only come to the shamans when they whistle to them."
There. Happy? She threw at mental glare at the teacher and ducked her head back down. Anything to just get this class over with.

Kjara watched the girl walk in and sit down in a seat. The teacher looked at her, his eyebrow raised, and indicated her to sit down also. The only chair that was avilable was the one besdie the girl who answered the question. Stammering an apology, she sat beside the girl. Kjara fixed her sweater and looked over at the girl, then back at the teacher. "This class has no point." she whispered to herself quietly. Suddenly, a thought came to her head quietly. A lot of things are pointless., the tone had a deep, masculine quirk to it. Looking up, she noticed a white snow owl on a banister. "psh. Alwasy the old wise ones, ya'll are." she whispered quietly to the owl. Of course. simply he put.
She narrowed her eyebrows in frustration towards the owl. "Why must you act like you know it all?" she snorted to him. She payed no heed that people were staring at her likes he was crazy. Ignoring him, she looked back up at the owl, and noticed he was gone. "Typical." she snorted and shook her head, trying to concentrate on the questions the teacher was asking. His eyes landed on her, and she swallowed. " Um.. well.. most mythological creatures usually tend to stay hidden from human sight. Even one glance of one will send the average human into a mood of freaking out. Even the good natured creatures cause confusion. And, most of them, are usually judged. A dragon could be one smart creature, but like every human, they have personalities. One could be evil, the other nice. It all depends on how they are treated. From ther own creatures, to thier surrounding neightbors." she blushed and ducked her head when everone looked at her. She knew these things from personal expreiences.
This is not what I expected when I came here. she told herself as she looked at the girl out of the corner of her eyes. "So.. what's you're name?" she asked her quietly, so that the teacher could not hear. She looked at the girl, and noticed she had dark curly hair and waht looked like it, squinty eyes. She smiled, even though the girl was not looking at her. "I'm Kjara. I'm a new sophomore here." the way her name was spelled, everyone though her name was pronounced "Kay-Jara-/uh". But if you actually heard it, it was pronounced, "Key-are-uh". she didn't spend time going into big detail. Keepin' it simple.

The fact anyone else even seemed to remotely care about this class made her feel stupid. It wasn't her fault that this dude was boring to the point where she wanted to jump off a bride. Myths and mythacal creatures were interesting to an extent and that was it for her. You wouldn't catch Xio reading up on this subject over the weekend.
Quite possibly the only thing interesting to happen so far was the girl that walked in late. Xio actually noticed because the girl took a seat--the only one--right next to her. The fact that she was close made Xio a little uncomfortable. She was so used to being separated from others and being pushed away that closeness made her uneasy. But yeah, that was her highlight. And that didn't say much except that, wow, she really was bored. Xio wouldn't have paid any attention to the girl whatsoever, except that she starting talking to someone or something. At least she wasn't the only one to look up out of curiousity and raise an eyebrow. Was she talking to herself or that owl?
It was impossible to tell and just as soon as she wondered the question, the girl turned back around in her seat and the professor pounced. He shot a question at her, at lighting speed. He must have had a bad night or something because the dude was just firing questions away at people today. Well, as long as it wasn't her...Actually, thank God it wasn't her, she hadn't been paying attention for the past few mintues so she would have gotten that question so wrong.
Xio fidgeted in her seat. Why did time always drag by so slowly when you wanted it to speed up? Uggghhh. She mentally groaned and rolled her eyes. This girl next to
Xio did empathize. She hated being asked questions because everyone involuntarily looked at you at some actually wanted to see if you knew the answer. It was evident this girl didn't like that feeling too much herself. Still, Xio looked away and back at her book because she could feel the girl's eyes on her. It was when the girl actually spoke to her that Xio sighed in annoyance. She was already in a bad mood and now this chick was talking to her. In the middle of class. Xio wasn't much for rules but she didn't feel like being told to hush like a child in front of everyone. That was just embarrasing.
"Xio," she whispered quickly without looking at the girl. "I don't want to be here."

Xio. Strange name. Like she should really be talking. Kjara had a strange name too. shaking her head, she looked around the room, not wanting to make the girl more nervous than she already was. "Me neither. My parents made me come here. Well, adopted parents. They thought it would be best for my. Well, out of control moods." she snorted and looked at her fingernails, which now had the small shape of an owl's talon. In one breath, it changed back into the girls own fingers. The teacher was giving her an odd look, and she narrowed her brows his way until he turned around. Shaking her head, she grabbed a pencil and started to doodle on a piece of paper. She started to write her name in a pretty frill, but then instead of a 'K' it came out as an 'M' and continued on to spell out 'Matthumus'.
Realizing what hse drew, she quickly crumpled the paper with a tear in her eyes. " Don't think about it.." she told herself quietly. Matthumus, her feiance. Well, dead one anyways. He went and got himself killed, like all of Kjara's loved ones. She took off the ring, and looked into the inside. Engraved in the gold, was hte small words, 'My Angel'. With an angry look, she put the ring back on her finger and looked around the room again. She hated this awkard silence. And why was this Xip being such a bitch? Kjara was only trying to be nice. Ugh. This is one reason why Kjara didn't hang out with girls. Always gotta have this drama shit.
A song got stuck in her head, and she tried her best to not hum it. So grabbing another piece of paper, she started to write it down. Satisfied with the song, she smiled and turned the paper around, and started to write again. This time, instead of a song, a story came out. Suddenly, like everytime she starts to write, she gets caught up with it, and she is in the story. But she didn't go into this one, becasue it didn't get her attention. Sighing, she tapped her pencil and trashed this one too. Now she was totally bored.

Why was this girl talking to her? Had Xio accidentally made some kind gesture towards her saying that she wanted to talk to her? Xio wasn’t stuck up, no, she was far from it, but she also wasn’t in the mood to make friends or whatnot. “Lovely,” Xio whispered back. “Throw my parents into the same category minus any concern for me.” She never once glanced over to Kjara. She just wasn’t interested enough. So sue her. Girls talking to themselves was weird anyway. Not that she didn’t do it sometimes.
Now what was she on about? Don’t think about what? Or was that not directed to her? Whatever. Xio shrugged to herself and went back to back to the more interesting book that she was reading instead of focusing on the lecture. Who cared anyway? She wasn’t here to make good grades and please others, she was here because this was where she had been dumped. Sideward glances were inevitable. She could feel the girls eyes on her. Her glare was burning a hole in skin.
Well glaring or not, or whatever she wanted to call that expression Xio didn’t plan on turning around and playing nice. Her annoyance was growing second my second. Either the girl was humming or she was tapping her pencil and crap.
“Okay guys.” The sudden change of voice broke Xio from her thoughts and back to the professor up front. “I’m going to partner you all up and the assignment is due next Friday. No, you can’t choose your partners. No, you can’t swap them. And no, there is no getting out of this.” Ugggh. Xio silently groaned. As if this class didn’t suck enough. She watched in irratation as the proffesor proceeded to pair people up and call out names. Xio Beckett and…Kjara Von Rael.”
Xio had to resist the urge to groan with her name came out of his mouth. It was nothing personal. Actually, she didn’t know what it was. She just found this annoying. Xio forced herself to turn to Kjara and stared.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me." she said aloud as their teacher paired them together. She felt Xio looking at her with an ill expression, and turned towards her with a glare on her face. A snarl came to her lips as she stared her in the eyes. Why did this girl have to be such a bitch? Kjara didn't even do anything to her, and she just acts like Kjara was her worst enemy. Her blue and green eyes looked deadly as she looked over at the teacher. "Can we work alone?" she asked, and the teacher shook their head. "Fuck." she looked back at Xio and sighed.
"Let's just get it over with."
She looked around and grabbed a pencil from her desk and started to write down notes she needed to study, and downt he things she needed to complete the experiment. SO much crap. So much stuff. Glancing over at Xio, she sighed. "So you wanna spilt this stuff? You do one thing and I do the other, or what?" her jaw was clenched tight, and her body was tense. She could tell she was not going to like this girl, or this day, so far.

"Can we work alone?"
Please say yes, please say yes, Xio chanted in her head. If he would only say yes, things would go so much smoother and Xio would be one happy camper but no. That stupid teacher had to take her wish and stab it repeatedly. What was the problem in working alone? She would stay up all night and day if she had to, to finish this on her own. She didn’t need a stupid partner. Especially one that obviously didn’t like her.
"Let's just get it over with."
The words made Xio snap her head to Kjaray or whatever her name was with disdain.
“Lovely.” Xio replied in a bitter tone. This girl acted like she was being paired with a mentally retarded person. It was fine though, because Xio didn’t exactly see any joy in being paired up with her so she really didn’t give a flying fuck what this girl thought of her. Sure, Xio was being a bitch to her. But right off the bat she could tell they weren’t going to like each other and lo and behold, one remark and already she hated Xio. Whatever.
“Yes,” Xio interrupted, with a nod. “That’s fine. Take whatever half you want and I’ll finish the rest. We can swap later and get this shit done. Problem solved.” Things just kept getting better and better and this girl’s attitude just kept getting worse. (Not that her own wasn’t also.) She almost considered faking an illness if it would get her out of this class and back to her dorm.
[[eep. No muse either. >< Sorry.]]
