As far as Xio was concerned this school was her latest idea of a prison. She was not here by choice, nor did she want to be here. This was nothing more than the one place that would take her when her parents wanted her out of the house and out of their lives. Was it such a crime to be different? To not be like everyone else? To not be…normal? It's not like she chose to be this way. And she sure as hell didn't choose to be here. Especially not here. She wasn't sure whether to feel at home because supposedly everyone had 'powers' and 'abilities' too or too feel jealous because everyone here could still, in a way, feel normal. They were all one big group or 'gifted students.' Each one that she passed had this look of pure enjoyment on their face. They liked it here. They liked their powers. They liked being with others like themselves. And that's where the kick hit. Even here, she was alone. Even here, she was the freak among freaks.
She was going to have a hell of a time making friends here. If she couldn't even get along wth normal people--let alone go up and talk to them, how was she supposed to do that around people who could actually control their powers? How was she supposed to compare? Ha. It was only a matter of time before something went wrong and someone got hurt. If anything, she was going to have to keep her distace from everyone. It was the only the she was really good at: being anti social.
whoa. she threw her arms out to catch herself as she flew forward, her foot still caught on the bottom of the stair she had tried to take. Looks like it ended up taking her. "Oof!" The wind in her stomach was quickly gone and she hit the concrete roughly. Oww, she made a face and quickly looked around to make sure no one else had witnessed her clumsiness and rushed to stand up. It looked like she was in the clear. she brushed off her jeans and shirt and straightened her clothes. Day one of my lovely new life....
Her hand a small scrap on it, nothing serious. A few drops of blood that would easily stop bleeding in about a minute. The only thing to do was to continue to the library and pretened like she hadn't just made a complete fool of herself. Head ducked; she entered the ever so silent library. It was probably the one place she was going to love besides her room here at Winterthorne. The enormity of it left her in awe. Never in her life had she ever seen so many books in her life. Oh, she was definitely going to like it here...
Careful not to draw attention to herself, she slipped past some tables and headed straight towards some shelves in hopes of finding the fiction section. She could use a good Stephen King novel right now. She's had enough of real monsters for a while.

William's presence in the library didn't surprise anyone, although he only spent a small amount of time in there, just enough to take the books he wanted, one could see him there almost everyday. Since the second day of school in his first year, the trips to the library became constant and in no time not only did he became very popular outside those doors but he also befriended a lot of students inside, those that some could consider 'book worms' or even 'loners'. They were the only ones that understand what the hell he spoke about when trying to have an intelligent conversation. He was able to conciliate both worlds easily and nobody questioned him.
Running one finger through several books in a shelf, he stopped at one with a black cover, opened it and read some of the first lines. Interesting he thought to himself with a small smirk. Back home, in his manor, most of their library had been made by William, he was the one that read the most inside those walls and he was also the one that took knowledge very seriously, mostly after he discovered his powers. He knew nothing about them, why he was a demon, why did each person had their own individual powers and most of all, what made him born as a demon and his twin sister as an angel when both their parents were just plain and normal humans without any extraordinary skills or abilities. There were a lot of answer to be answered but well, he had an immortal life in front of him to search for the information.
Turning the book over, a large spider could be seen crawling on the cover, a nano-second later, Will disappeared and appeared several book shelves behind hitting a girl on the shoulder with his back. "Fuck!" The young De Luca never used this type of language, the way he had been raised despised that but when it came to insects, he just couldn't hold himself up, it was bigger than him. "I'm really sorry" he stated turning around and placing his hand gently on the girl's shoulder, a warm smile playing on his lips as his light blue eyes looked directly to hers.

She was only on page two when the slightest push made her stumble forward just a little. She raised an eyebrow and turned quickly; her dark eyes filling with unease. Anyone this close to her probably had a motive or good reason. They were pretty lucky she was wearing a jacket, the simple touch to her shoulder could have been fatal.
She jerked away as soon as his hand came to rest on her should. It wasn't meant as an insult, it was a reflex. "Sorry," She muttered, eyeing him with caution. He looked innocent enough at the moment. His blue eyes held hers for a moment and she relaxed.
Relax...you gotta be nice or you won't make friends...
"Hi. Sorry...I didn't mean to startle you or...whatev..." Her voice trailed off before she could go into a ramble. She was definitely not a people person. Already she was aching to turn around and leave before he started asking her questions or she ended up saying something stupid. That's how it usually happened. Someone came up to her and tried to be nice and she screwed it up or started something.
However, in this situation, the boy looked just as uneasy as her. Was it because of her? Had his touch soaked through her shirt? Was that even possible? That one professor had said clothes would have been enough for simple contact. Maybe it was best to start wearing two layers or clothing...
"You okay?" she forced herself to meet his gaze again and tried to smile so that she didn't look like she was sitting on a hot seat. "I didn't hurt you or anything did I? Just being around others made her feel like they trying to read into her; judge her. And that probably wasn't normal but what can you expect from someone who's been treated that way for a long time? If her parents can't even speak to her without making judgements and giving her funny looks who could anyone else?

William was rather confused as the girl leaned back as he tried to place his hand on her shoulder to apologize, he wasn't any kind of pervert or anyone that was trying to hit on her, why do that? His hand stayed in the same position for a couple of seconds before he placed both on his pants pockets with another smile, he wouldn't be rude, not matter how uncomfortable he made her.
"Hi. Sorry...I didn't mean to startle you or...whatev..."
"I'm the one who should be sorry, I normally make sure the place where I'm going to land is empty." he claimed bitting his lower lip in an apologetic look "I freak out when in contact with insects" he added rolling his eyes. He was allergic to them and in the beginning he had no problems with them but as he saw how he stayed after being bit by a bee or a spider, he started to act rather childish near them. "I hate them"
"I didn't hurt you or anything did I?
"Hum? No...you did not." he said with an eyebrow raised, not really understanding why she was asking if she had hurt him, the last time he had checked, he was the one that bumped into her "Why do you ask?" he asked curiously.

She hadn’t mean to come off as a bitch or anything. She realized that acting as if someone were poisonous probably made them feel bad. Regardless of how self conscience he made her feel she was going to suck it up and be nice because that’s what normal people did and she wanted to be normal. And she wanted some friends too. Being alone all the time was not fun at all.
She took a step forward and forced a polite smile across her lips. “No, no, its fine,” She stumbled over her words. “I’m just not used to people appearing out of nowhere.” Chill out, it was accident, she reassured herself. Not everyone was going to meet her and automatically hate her being who she was. Some people were actually decent.
“Ah,” She nodded when he went into further explanation. “I see.…Ah…” An actual smile broke over her face. She chuckled. “Oh, well, its cool. Some of them freak me out too. Bees scare the hell out of me.” Small bugs she could handle but bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets--whatever had a stinger and wings scared her bad. If they were anywhere near she would get anxious. “What did you see?”
Talking about her powers made her nervous. Everyone else had gifts they liked or had mastered. She was a walking hazard. “Uh, well, people aren’t supposed to touch me. I’m kinda…harmful.” But he wasn’t hurt, so maybe contact was okay as long as her skin wasn’t exposed. She really didn’t know. “Yeah. Um. I’m Xio.” she did a little wave and smiled timidly.

“I’m just not used to people appearing out of nowhere.”
William smiled warmly before running his fingers through his hair, giving it a somewhat wild look "Well, you need to get used to it, here, it happens all the time." he stated winking to the girl and moving his gaze toward the books next to him "From people running through walls, turning into water and disappearing in the ground and like me, just teleporting from one side to the other" he added, recognizing most books on that shelf, he had read almost all of them.
Will was glad the girl didn't start laughing at him because of him running from an insect, not that it would bother him, but it was better this way, besides, almost everyone knew this about him, it had been found out when a student decided to transform into a large bee to show everyone his power and William disappeared seconds after to appear in the grey forest. "A spider.." he claimed over his shoulder to the girl, shivering a little just thinking about it "They should clean this place better...." he said shaking his head in disapproval.
“Uh, well, people aren’t supposed to touch me. I’m kinda…harmful.”
The boy stopped looking for a book and turned his head to her with an eyebrow raised "Really?" he asked rhetorically "Woah, that sucks. " he claimed not really sure on what to say, thinking how could she manage to have a relationship or sex, was that possible for her? "I'm William De Luca...a Demon" he stated with a wink and a charming smile, he thought twice about extending his hand, he didn't knew the effect she could have on him, he didn't knew if his power as a demon could protect him of such ability, so he preferred to play it safe for the time being.

The fact that Xio managed to crack a smile was odd for her because she rarely did. This dude must have had like someone kind of special power or something. It was weird because she was so used to feeling anxious and shy around people in general but this kid didn’t even phase her. She hardly felt self conscious at all.
“Ooh, yeah..” Xio nodded with understanding sympathy. If it had been her sister, she would have been on the ground laughing. Her sister always screamed and shrieked and did ridiculous things but this guy was already nicer than her sister was most of the time, so she was going to super nice to him.
“As long as there aren’t bees, I’ll be okay--but I swear if I see one, I’m going to freak out.” This made no sense since Xio had never even been stung by a bee before she just couldn’t stand them! They were so weird. Spiders did bother her much, but get a big enough one and she would probably be out the door quicker than a teleported. She made a face at the thought of bees and wasps and such and shuddered over dramatically. Ew.
She was feeling pretty good that she wasn’t being her normal self all shy and scared up until the point where the boy froze and turned to lift an eyebrow. He didn’t seem scared and that was good. He didn’t seem disgusted either and that was better. Nope, he looked rather interested and she could probably guess which questions were racing through his mind. ‘How did she hug people? What about sex? And relationships and stuff?’
The thought made her smirk and she raised an amused eyebrow at him, knowing that was probably what he was thinking. “Yeah, you could say it sucks.” She chuckled. That was more of an understatement but for once it didn’t really bother her. He was treating her like it was any other power and she wasn’t any different from him. Still, by reflex, her eyes flickered to his hands which she knew he wouldn’t extend. Most people didn’t. She, however, did. She was wearing gloves so it would be okay. Just the way that he had looked at her the first time because of that spider had confused her for a second. She had thought it was her fault.
“Pleasure to meet you, William. You can call me Xio.” She put out her hand, watching his face for a reaction.

“As long as there aren’t bees, I’ll be okay--but I swear if I see one, I’m going to freak out.”
William was rather surprised but at the same time he managed to crack a smile, it seemed the girl had a very similar fear of bugs. "I bet I'll act more like a girl than you if one appears" he teased laughing lightly but shivering gently to the thought of a bee appearing or touching him.
It was very normal for William to start conversations with people, he was extremely social and that was the main reason he had been able to become rather popular in those grounds after so little time. He wasn't rude and he was good at listening, even if he couldn't care less about someone else's problems, he would advise and hear them with attention. Will loves to be loved and to be the center of attentions so he never had a problem in approaching someone and start a conversation, If the guy or girl turned out to be dumbasses, then they would meet a more sarcastic and cold De Luca that would make them feel sorry for being so stupid.
“Yeah, you could say it sucks.”
"I'm sorry, I don't really know what to say.." he claimed with an apologetic look, there was nothing he could or say that could exactly be considered right at that moment, he had read about that type of ability but to actually be in front of someone with it, was a completely different story. William then saw that the girl was wearing gloves so there wasn't a problem in them shaking hands which he did immediately. "It's a pleasure to meet you too Xio" he stated with one of his so popular charming smiles.
At that moment, his desire was to actually touch her skin and feel what her ability could do, to see if him being a demon could cancel it or something of the sort. He was able to transform and when he did that, his powers became extremely stronger, maybe he could touch her longer than the rest...he really didn't know but he was dying to find out. "Xio is a strange name, no offense but is there some story behind it?" he asked raising his hand as a book came to it and a gentle smile played on his lips.

“I hope so,” Xio joked back. “Cause I can seem to look very tough.” She nodded sadly. “I’ve been practicing and everything and still nothing.” She shrugged. The though of him running around and screaming like a girl made her chuckle. He was more like to teleport or whatever, though. She doubted he would waste time running.
Talking to William was a lot easier for Xio than talking to most people was. She wondered why that was so. Maybe because William didn’t automatically give her a nasty look like, ‘Okay. Can you stop talking?’ Or it maybe it was because he was just a lot nicer than most. He was charming and it looked like he wasn’t even trying. Xio had to muster up all of her sociable-ness. But at least it was working (or so it seemed). She didn’t feel like making up an excuse to leave or anything. She just felt…normal.
With the exception of the whole ‘abilities conversation. But it wasn’t that bad that she couldn’t bear it. Xio shrugged again and gave William a smile. “Eh, it’s cool. There isn’t much you can say. I just kinda deal with it and hope that everyone else do too and if they don’t then fuck ‘em.” She found it a delightful surprise than he didn’t hesitate at all to shake her hand. I like this kid. Her smile grew wider and she shook it happily. Hey, he was charming and he had a cute smile. Very nice. It wasn’t every day that you met someone with good look and a nice personality.
“Uh, well, lets see….” Xio thought for a moment than gave him a lost look and raise her hands, her palms facing upward. “I have absolutely no idea,” She confessed with a sly smile. “Its like Japanese or some shit and I’m happen three quarters Mexican and one white, sooo, go figure,” she concluded with a chuckle. She really had no idea. Maybe later she would go look it up.

“Eh, it’s cool. There isn’t much you can say. I just kinda deal with it and hope that everyone else do too and if they don’t then fuck ‘em.”
William couldn't help but to laugh at her statement "That's the spirit!" he claimed, his blue eyes watching from the corner "Everybody here had to learn to deal with their own powers, to some it was easier. Look at that girl over there, the only thing that happens to her is her hair changes color with her feelings. If she's happy it will turn one color, if she's sad another one completely different. It's not really something that will have a big impact in her life." he stated watching the girl he had mentioned screaming with another boy and her hair turning purple, that was pretty useless, but there were a lot of youngster that had to deal with more serious things, just like Xio, to William, the most difficult thing he had to deal was the fact he was a demon, he had no idea why he was one and what the future would bring.
“Its like Japanese or some shit and I’m happen three quarters Mexican and one white, sooo, go figure,”
Laughing again he shook his head gently "Well, I better not bother you anymore you probably have better things to do, I'm really sorry for the sudden appearance and bump, next time, I shall see if the place is empty before appearing" he stated with a charming smile before winking and turning to leave. The last thing he would want to do is bother others, he didn't like when it happened to him so he wouldn't do the same.

Xio’s eyes traveled across the library to the girl William was pointing out. Seeing here there, screaming at the boy, hair purple, it made Xio jealous. Sure, she wasn’t normal normal, but she was normal. She could touch people and be comfortable with them and do things Xio would never be able to do. Seeing here, in all her glory, no matter how peculiar that glory was, made Xio’s insides burn with envy. She would given anything in the world to have her hair changing colors be her only worry. “True,” She said softly, her eyes still on the girl who’s hair kept fading from a light purple to a dark purple then back. She was trying “I keep telling myself that having to deal with a harder gift will make me a better person in the end, but when you’re surrounded by all these people who don’t have a care in the world,” She paused and laughed a small, sad laugh, “Its kind of hard to believe that.” She was trying to see the good in her abilities but so far all she could see was the crap it had turned her life into. When was the last time her powers had helped her? She couldn’t remember. She could, however, remember how it had put her mom in the ER for two days. How it had put her friend Cody and that girl at school that had picked on her all the time, in a coma they might never come out of. Living with that kind of guilt made it hard to see anything good about her powers or her stupid life.
Well, I better not bother you anymore you probably have better things to do, I'm really sorry for the sudden appearance and bump, next time, I shall see if the place is empty before appearing."
The sadness returned as he bid her goodbye. He was probably bored of her now or had come to his senses about how her danger level. She had just met him, and already he we leaving and she didn’t want him to. He was the first person she felt instantly normal with in a long time and just when she thought she was making new friends they left. “Oh. No, no,“ she shook her head surprise that he actually thought he was bothering her. Most people did, but he actually didn’t. “You weren’t bothering me at all.“ She said, hoping he wouldn’t. “Really, I’m rather bored without someone to talk to and it’s not like I was doing anything.”

“Really, I’m rather bored without someone to talk to and it’s not like I was doing anything.”
William stopped and looked over his shoulder to the girl with a slight grin playing in his lips as he watched her through his light brown hair. Putting one finger on the lips gently, he gave the impression of someone thinking and indeed he was but there had to be a pose, with Will there was always a pose, he didn't even did it on purpose anymore, it just came automatically. From a young age he had dealt with governors, presidents and all type of important people, when dealing with those persons, a slight sense of flirt had to be created, not in the sexual sense of the word but to be able to make them like him immediately, normally he went to the wives and daughters first, after that, it was rather easy to convince the men of his potential. Why do that you may ask, nothing better than to be in the most important men good graces so that in the future a good job wouldn't be so difficult to find, besides, he wanted to be a lawyer so he would have the possibility of representing a lot of millionaires.
Turning around he ran his fingers through his hair and walked to the girl "I have an idea..." he stated as the book he had in his hand flew back to the shelf and that same hand went to the girl's, holding it softy "Let's take a walk" he stated with a smirk "Grab tight" as the words left his lips, everything around them became blurry and suddenly instead of shelves, there were houses and shops everywhere, people walking from one side to the other, cars passing by and the air was more fresh. They were in the town near the castle, a place he enjoyed going when there was nothing else to do or if there wasn't any place in particular around the world where he wanted to go. "Enjoyed the ride?" he asked grinning, hoping the girl wouldn't freak out by his sudden action.

Xio almost felt uneasy for a second when he turned back. He was tapping in his chin in the most thoughtful manner and she wasn’t sure it was a good thing or not. She was hoping it was good. Or that he was at least trying to think of a nice way to tell her he didn’t want to. He didn’t seem like the kind of guy to do that though so she would have a little faith and hope that whatever he was thinking, it was something amusing. She was used to people just turning and leaving; some more polite than others, but most of them the same. Letting people leave was such a natural reflex that stopping William almost surprised her as well.
She had to admit, she stared a little bit as he stopped to run a hand through his hair and turned back to her.
"I have an idea..."
The book he had left his hands was now back on the book shelf. Curiosity made her put her book back too. Xio almost jerked her hand back when he grabbed it. Reflex again.
"Let's take a walk"
She didn’t have much time to protest or agree before uttered the words ‘grab tight’ and they were off. The library blurred away, her hand closed around his more tightly and she willed herself to hold on. She didn’t really get a chance to see much when her feet touched solid ground again. What had just happened? Her focus came back slowly but she kept a hold on his hand. The library was no where in sight. “Very,” She said softly in reference to his question. Her voice was filled in awe at the passing people and various shops they passed. “Where are we?” The evident smile took over her lips in delight. Now that was one power she wouldn’t mind having.
